Any editing needed
Is there any editing I can do. I am new and don't know what to edit. I would like to create an advanced scrolling tutorial. I have found a amazing example by @griffpatch_tutor. Link: Scrolling example. I could use the base code to create a tutorial. Tutorials about tile scrolling are scarce and I would love to create one.

- Hi! I also think that project is pretty cool, but I don't think it's okay to make an article based off of one project. I think it'd be better to instead write your own tutorial, but use the project as a reference. Does that make sense?

Protect my thumbnail file
Can you please protect my thumbnail image? File:CrazyBoy826-Icon.png I need it for my new signature.
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 23:37, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- Nah, there’s no need - since it’s a user icon, it’s protected under user space rules anyway. No need to truly protect it - what if you want to upload a new version?
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 23:40, 19 June 2018 (UTC)- OK

Grueling Work
In S:CT you said that I do some grueling work. What kind of grueling work?
NYCDOT [ Talk Page | Contributions | Directory ] 17:07, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, you know, stuff like painstakingly going through multiple pages and fixing any errors you find. "Grueling work" literally means work done to earn gruel, which is a kind of thin porridge - that doesn't apply here, of course, but things like that feel the same as work done for gruel to me. I'm glad you have the dedication to do it! It's very kind of you to help the Wiki so much :)

How to create signatures
I tried to create a custom signature but it still showed the default signature when I typed "~~~~". Is there a way to work around this?
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 20:50, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, the signature is defined in Special:Preferences. 20:52, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
- I went to that page and entered the signature " CrazyBoy826 | Talk | Contribs | More...", which displays as "File:CrazyBoy826-Icon.png CrazyBoy826 | Talk | Contribs | More..." ,but it still shows the default. Is there a way to fix that?
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 21:06, 21 June 2018 (UTC)- I also tried it as a template at User:CrazyBoy826/sig, but that didn't work either.
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 21:09, 21 June 2018 (UTC)- Are you sure you clicked "save" at the bottom of the page? In addition to this, you may want to follow the steps shown at Scratch Wiki:Custom Signatures#Best Method for Using Signatures to make a "minisig" for your signature.

Just follow the instructions in S:GOODSIG and you should be fine. I highly recommend against typing out that entire thing plus ~~~~~
- you hand will get tired after not too long. If the instructions aren't working, you're doing something wrong.

User:Kenny2scratch/Content
How come in User:Kenny2scratch/Content none of the text show up there? Is it just my browser, or what?
NYCDOT [ Talk Page | Contributions | Directory ] 16:26, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- It's not your browser; it's because he uses the tags around all the actual content. This tag means that the content only shows up when it is transcluded onto a page, in this case User:Kenny2scratch ;)

Being a category of itself
Other than the page Category:Scratch Wiki, is it possible to make a page a category of itself?
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 19:07, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, but it is not recommended. 19:07, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- It is totally possible but not allowed except for the root category.

Edit buttons
On many talk pages of experienced users, there is a button that leads to the talk edit page (/w/index.php?title=User talk:Kenny2scratch&action=edit). I've viewed the source of many examples but I still don't understand how to make one. How to you make a button like that?
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 02:48, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- You use the "fullurl" magic word.

- Which produces:
- And you can treat that as a normal URL you would put in [url bracket] tags.

Move Scratch File Format (2.0)
I found that the page "Scratch File Format" redirected to "Scratch File Format (2.0)". Probably this is from a page move, like the one with Scratch Website and Scratch Website (2.0). As only sysops can move pages over redirects, can you move that?
Without "(2.0)", it makes more sense.
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 17:37, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, anyone can move pages over redirects, but only if the redirect has no previous revisions. We are also not moving anything simply based on the (2.0) suffix - when 3.0 comes out, the 2.0 suffix will become mandatory. Leave the redirect as it is.

I fixed Template:Note
Template:Note used to not align correctly. I fixed it by copying from Template:Warning and changing the text and image. Now, the template looks a lot neater. Because it is used so widely, it makes the entire Wiki look cleaner. However, it is still a tiny bit off. I think this can be fixed by changing the image. I will fix that later.
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 20:11, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- Fixed the image!
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 21:00, 27 June 2018 (UTC)- Fixed it again. Your image is basically a duplicate, and there's no difference when you use the original.

About File:Information-template.png
You delete the image because it is unused. Actually it was used for Template:Note, but you also changed that. The reason I'm using a separate image is to fix the alignment. Can you please revert the delete and the one on Template:Note, making sure to explain why a seperate image was used? I'm almost going to bed now.
CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 03:55, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
- From what I can see, the extra space at the top did nothing to change the alignment. When I edited the template, I compared between before I edited it and after - I saw no difference no matter which image was used. To keep the storage used on here to a minimum, I deleted the extra-space version as an unsued file, because my edit had just rendered it unused.

Editing My message
Hi, you shouldn't edit other peoples messages, like you edited mine on my talk. Thanks!
asqwde talk | contribs 11:39, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
- You think I don't know that? I only edited that message because it was displeasing in the extreme. Although S:STYLE rules are more lax on talk pages (especially the indent rule), that particular message broke the same rule multiple times - so I edited it. I hope it didn't drastically change the meaning of the message.

RU wiki skin (cont'd)
Hi! I translated the JSON file in GitHub into Russian, just 1 thing the Project:Create an article doesn't work on the Ru wiki, but I still kept it in there. Thanks
asqwde talk | contribs 17:50, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
- Oh hey! Just to ensure that the translation isn't being dictated by one person, I'd like it if you could do the following:
- Get another ruwiki user (preferably an admin, but a normal user is ok) to look at your translations.
- If they are OK with it:
- Get them to leave a message on my ruwiki talk page saying something along the lines of "I've looked at asqwde's translation, and it looks fine to me."
- Send them the JSON file, and have them post the contents on my talk as well.
- If they have any comments, [removed] take those comments into account, and repeat from 1.
- If they are OK with it:
- Once 1. is done, if I don't respond within a few days, ping me here.
- After all that is done:
- I'll take the contents of the JSON file and push them to the skin.
- Once all the webhooks have fired, I'll set up the skin on the ruwiki.
- Got it?
