About your edit to Scratch Wiki:April Fools/Change () Effect by ()
Please undo your edit to that page. Another user was technically wrecking it. It was supposed to be some compliments, NOT a chat. Even though we need to keep a collaborative spirit, 1a3c5e7g9i was kind of vandalising it, even though it is an AF.
78ch3 (talk | contribs) 19:25, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- No, it was not vandalism. Look at other AF pages; bits like that are perfectly fine and normal.
Drunken_Sailor (talk | contribs) 20:41, 1 November 2017 (UTC)- It was not vandalism - the point of AF pages is that they are supposed to be ludicrous. I am willing to concede that his edits went off-topic - but they were not vandalism. I however think that you should discuss this with the user in question and not me.

I need help...
I want to make an hebrew interwiki. can you explain to me how to do that?
Yzyzyz (talk | contribs) 15:45, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- Sure! Here's how:
- Gather a few other people to help - interwikis are not a one-man job.
- Sign up for an account on the Test Scratch Wiki.
- Contact mtwoll on the test wiki, and ask for the language prefix "Heb" to be added.
- Once it has been added, create a scratch wiki home and a test scratch wiki about with the prefix Heb - the "Scratch Wiki Home" in Hebrew should be a homepage for the hebrew wiki, while the "Test Scratch Wiki About" should be a page, in English, specifically describing the Hebrew wiki on the Test wiki.
- Once you've done that, just be active and translate pages. Once your language's wiki is deemed active/"strong" enough, it will be transferred to a real wiki.
- I recommend you look at the Test Scratch Wiki FAQ for further information.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 00:33, 14 November 2017 (UTC)- I found 3 other hebrew speaking users who wanted to be editors, and I requested an account at the test scratch wiki. (they will request one soon).
Yzyzyz (talk | contribs) 13:52, 17 November 2017 (UTC)- Alright then! I've accepted your account request (first account request I ever accepted 0.0) (though it was blank). I'll wait for your other editors to join, then I'll help you get started. Sound good?

How did you do that thing where it talks to you via the mouse highlight text?
Whenever I highlight over your text, it shows a message to go over to your talk page. That's pretty cool, how'd you do that?

Reaching a Consensus
You say that I need to reach a consensus before I go about removing sections from my talk page. As you were the one who suggest it how would yo propose I go about doing this.
-unsigned comment by Minerman6 (talk | contribs)
- Quick offtopic note: you seem to have not set your signature back to default in your preferences, so you're not signing your posts because your signature page is deleted.
- Back on topic: To reach a consensus, you ask the rest of the Wiki community (on the Community Portal) whether they would think it is okay for you to have your talk page deleted. I suspect that they will be fine with it (one of our admins did that not too long ago and you've been rather inactive). If the consensus is to proceed, then an admin or EW will delete your user talk page, and we can all continue on with our lives. If the consensus is to not delete it, then it should not be deleted, and everyone should respect that consensus.
- I hope that clears up a few things.

How do you like my new signature?
MakeTheBrainHappy Talk Contribs Directory
Also how do I add time on?
Makethebrainhappy (talk | contribs) 22:44, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- I think that sig is a little too eye-catching - its borders are too thick+dotted. As for the time:
- Create User:Makethebrainhappy/minisig with the content
{{User:Makethebrainhappy/Signature}}
- Go to Special:Preferences#mw-input-wpnickname (use that link that conveniently jumps to the signature part)
- In the box labelled "New signature", type
{{User:Makethebrainhappy/minisig}}
- Click "Save"
- That way, when you use
~~~~
it'll be converted into your custom signature plus a timestamp.
Collapsable Boxes
Hi there! I was wondering how you made those super cool boxes at the bottom of your user page. They are really cool, and I'd love to know how you did it.
Waterfall | Talk | Contribs | 03:44, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
- Don't put a space at the start of a line!
- You can feel free to edit my sidebar (the one on the left) and my sidebox (the one on the right) and look at how it works, but I'll explain here too :)
- So basically, what I did was add a link inside with an HTML class of "
mw-customtoggle-sidebar
" - that tells MediaWiki "this is a link to collapse something". Now what is it collapsing? The element with an HTML class of "mw-collapsible
", and an HTML ID of "mw-customcollapsible-sidebar
". "sidebar" here is the unique thing - so "mw-customcollapsible-sidebar
" says "this is a collapsible element with a custom collapse link - its name is 'sidebar'." - Then, when you click any link with the class "
mw-customtoggle-sidebar
", it collapses or expands the element with the ID "mw-customcollapsible-sidebar
". Got that? - However, that's not it. I deliberately put the collapse link inside the thing it was collapsing - but wouldn't that mean once you collapse it, you can't uncollapse it? No - I also added a second mini-sidebar with another collapse link that simply says "+" (meaning "expand"). I also specified (using CSS
z-index
) that the "expand" link needs to be one layer behind the original sidebar, so that it would only show up when the sidebar was collapsed. - Alright, that should do it. Does that help?
- (oh, by the way, remember to sign your posts :P)
Hey Ken, I just need to ask you something about the HTML...
What HTML code do I need for a different signature? Plus, I'd love to know how you did the two sidebar things on your talk page. ;)
ChromefoxTheAlmighty (talk | contribs) 16:56, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi there, Chromefox :-)
- The sidebar code can be found here for the left one and here for the right one.
- To make a signature, you need to first design it. this is the code for my signature. After making the signature page, you need to make a second page (called something like “minisig”) which simply transcludes the first page (using
{{User:Yourusername/sig}}
or whatever you named your signature page). Once that’s done, go to Special:Preferences and scroll down to where it says “new signature”, and in there type{{User:Yourusername/minisig}}
(or whatever you named your minisig page. - Hope that helps! If there’s any part of what I explained that’s still unclear, I’m still here ;)
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 23:11, 9 January 2018 (UTC)- I don't think I'm ready for something that complicated yet, but I may look at it soon ;)
Congratulations! You have been chosen as a candidate to run in the February 2018 Experienced Wikian election! Voting will open on Feb 9th, so you will need to write your speech before then. Your Signature
Hi Ken! Just wanted to know how you made your Scratch signature. I feel afraid to change mine because I don't know the outcome.
Could I have some help? Thanks!
a_bar (talk | contribs)
- Looks like you forgot to use four tildas (
~~~~
) instead of three! Don't worry, at least I know who posted it :P - As to how custom signatures work, here's a step-by-step tutorial-ish thing for ya:
- Create/design your signature in a user subpage (you can take a look at mine at User:Kenny2scratch/sig, press "edit" to see the code, but don't save)
- Create a second subpage with the code
{{User:YOURUSERNAMEHERE/signaturesubpagename}}
- replace "YOURUSERNAMEHERE" with your username and "signaturesubpagename" with the name of your signature subpage; mine is at User:Kenny2scratch/minisig - if you press "edit" you'll see the contents are{{User:Kenny2scratch/sig}}
. - Go to Special:Preferences and scroll down to the part that says "New signature:". In that box, type
{{User:YOURUSERNAMEHERE/minisig}}
, replacing "YOURUSERNAMEHERE" with your username and "minisig" with the name of your minisig subpage (I recommend "minisig" though :P) - Scroll to the bottom and press "save".
- And you should be done! Next time you use four tildas () your signature will show up instead of the default scratchsig.
- Remember, if at any point something seems to go wrong, simply set your signature back to
<scratchsig>a_bar</scratchsig>
. Hope that helps!
