Hi Kenny2scratch. I'm sorry for edits that don't make sense. I'm the new Wikian, so I also promise to make edits in the future that make sense.

- On the contrary, I'm sure you know exactly what you're doing - it's only that you're missing some key info, which is none of your fault. I was just enlightening you in that regard.

Creating A Professional-Looking User Page
Hello Kenny2scratch,
I was looking at your user page, and I thought it looked very professional. I was wondering if you could give me any tips or suggestions about how to organize my user page, or if you could let me know another place where I can find that information. I'm also curious about how to sign my username. I tried using the "Sign your username" wiki markup code, but I couldn't figure out how to use it.
I'm editing this message to ask another question. I'm really new to the Scratch Wiki (As you probably know) and I saw that there was a bullet point on your talk page that said: "For reference, revision 231783 was done by AdeptMind on 17/07/2019" I'm worried I accidentally edited your page. If you could let me know how this works, and if I'm doing it right, that would be great! Thanks, and sorry for all of the questions!
-AdeptMind
- Hi! Did you read the Welcome tutorial? One of the things it covers is how to use talk pages properly. In advance, though, you sign your name with four tildas (four of these: ~) at the end of the last line of your message.
- I built up my userpage over months and eventually years. Under the surface, it's actually a hideous mess of styling and failed experiments (though I have attempted to refactor it before). I encourage you to learn some stuff about HTML, then try to recreate (or approximate, I wouldn't recommend going for a complete or accurate reformation) my userpage without looking at the source code; once you have done that, you can start thinking about how you want your page to look at a higher level without having to worry about the execution of the concept. TL, DR: Learn about HTML and figure things out - it's your page and I can't tell you how to make it.
- The "revision NUM was done by NAME on DD/MM/YYYY" is just something I have in there for fun - it uses the magic words REVISIONID, REVISIONUSER, REVISIONDAY, REVISIONMONTH, and REVISIONYEAR, all of which you can look up in the linked page. Also, talk pages are meant to be edited by others - it is only userpages where you are not allowed to edit others'.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 22:40, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for all the help! I don't currently have time to learn HTML, but I'm going to be taking a programming class in school next year, so hopefully that will cover HTML, or at least help me learn fundamental skills that will help with HTML.
AdeptMind (talk | contribs) 15:44, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
Oh, I thought signing your username literally meant signing it XD. I was confused about if it would ask me to use my mouse to sign my name for each message, or if there was a place I could create a pre-made signature for each message, but now I know that's not what it means. Thanks!

- Hi! I don't want to interrupt but when posting we always indent one more than the other person (using
:
), and use {{outdent}} after 6 or 7 indents!
- For example:
This is aligned all the way to the left. :This is indented slightly. ::This is indented more. :::This is indented more. ::::This is indented more. :::::This is indented more. ::::::This is indented more. {{outdent|6}} This is an outdent.
is shown as:
This is aligned all the way to the left.
- This is indented slightly.
- This is indented more.
- This is indented more.
- This is indented more.
- This is indented more.
- This is indented more.
- This is indented more.

- And keep up the great editing!
- Haha Ken, betcha to it!

ed/ing
So, about the grammar on the "need edited/ing", I've had issues with this before, when my friend told me it was wrong. I guess where I'm from the the "to be" is implied, e.g. "the dog needs fed" really means "the dog needs to be fed". My friend said it wasn't implied (I said something like "need punished"), so I was like "Haven't your parents ever said "the dog needs fed?" And some of my friends agreed with me, and she disagreed. I guess when it comes to talking, in casual conversation, it's implied to most people, but on the Wiki I should be more careful :P Plus, I guess you interpreted it as what I meant was "ing", but I saw that and was like "What? That isn't what I meant." If I had realized that I would have changed it to "need to be repositioned".
Just felt the need to note this.
EIephant_Lover Talk Contributions Subpages 23:43, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
- Wait so what are you talking about?
- Regardless, in standard English grammar, the only correct forms are "the dog needs to be fed" and "the dog needs feeding". "The dog needs fed" is simply invalid.
- But I need to know what the context is.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 16:42, 27 July 2019 (UTC)- Haha sorry, I meant the latest revision of this
- I didn't mean you were wrong to correct me, I knew that it was wrong once I saw your edit. I just felt like saying something about it since I've had an issue with it in the past. I know that it's wrong, it's just that I would have corrected it differently, and I thought it was kind of funny.
- I guess I just have a strange sense of humor.
EIephant_Lover Talk Contributions Subpages 18:14, 27 July 2019 (UTC)- Ahh, it is all so clear now.
- Interesting. I actually considered both corrections, but I went with the ed->ing change because a) I thought that that was what you meant to say and b) ed->ing made for a shorter sentence than ed->to be ed.
- You do have a strange sense of humor :Kappa: but I only say that because I find it intriguing rather than funny :)

Did I make the right decision?
Hey, could you please look at this request? I was really, really, really, really hard-pressed on this one, and I feel bad rejecting it as they had all the right parts, but were not specific enough and did not use complete sentences. Would you mind looking at it, and if you think differently than I do, possibly change it (as I trust your opinion more than mine)? Again, it was really hard for me to make this decision. Thanks (I hope it's okay that I'm posting this on your talk page).
bigpuppy talk ▪︎ contribs 17:49, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
- Heh, I saw that one and left it for later because it was hard for me as well. It's easier to justify a decision in retrospect than it is before making it, so thank you for making that decision :)
- I think that was the right thing to do because:
- It's not clear enough what each flaw is correcting (e.g. "the", but what was the original spelling?)
- (Incorrectly) Linking to the Vector Graphics page doesn't tell us the intent - did they mean to add some info from that page? or add a link to that page? or...?
- And in general as you said it wasn't specific enough and didn't use complete sentences.
- (Posting this on my talk is fine since you don't have any other method of contacting me. *hint hint*)

I want to ask you how to do user page cutoffs (e.g. USER:Kenny2Scratch/something).

- Your signature was unreadable and therefore was not an acceptable signature. I fixed it for you. Nonintrusive backgrounds are fine - go ahead. (Also, I just fixed it again - we require signatures to have a line break at the start. Yours didn't have one. See S:GOODSIG.)

Hello there! I have seen a lot of people on the Scratch Wiki with custom signuatures and was hoping you could tell me how to do one myself! Do I need a javascript file? or do I need this page here? Thanks!

Where do you draw the line?
Where do you draw the line for unessesary formating of talk pages. I know a user who's talk page is very anoying and has so much formating to the point that It's ruining the messages, templates, signatures, etc. Where do you draw the line? (I'm not trying to be mean to this specific user or anything)
ajsya Profile | Talk | Contribs 02:33, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
- I'm going to need more context (and better spelling: unnecessary, formatting, annoying) than that - I draw the line on a case-by-case basis, and my line may be different from other EWs' lines. If you really don't want to snitch publicly, you can report the latest revision of the talk page concerned (go to history, next to "undo" is "report") and state what you think is excessive, but I think it would be better to just say here.

Violations of Scratchers' Privacy
Hi! As you know, when a user submits an account request, they input their email. There is no problem with that. However, the problem I have is that those emails show in the account request queue. This feels like a violation of Scratchers' privacy, especially as Experienced Wikians are just normal Scratchers like them. Of course we'll never use their email addresses for anything non-Scratch Wiki-related, but that's exactly my point. We don't need to see their email addresses. All emails are handled by the system. Therefore, I don't see why we need to be able to see their emails. It's fine if you can't/don't have time to/don't think it's necessary, but I was wondering, if it isn't too hard too, if you could remove "email" from what we see in the request queue. Again, it's okay if you can't or have other opinions, but I'm just telling you mine.
bigpuppy talk ▪︎ contribs 16:30, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- I agree with this.
smileycreations15 (talk | contribs) 16:33, 8 September 2019 (UTC)- That's not so possible since CA relies on emails and we rely on a bold confirmed symbol, but I can try and wing it if someone sends over a copy of the modified CA. 16:41, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

ajsya Profile | Talk | Contribs 18:22, 8 September 2019 (UTC)- (*sense)
- Actually, though the English wiki procedure ignores the emails and only requires their confirmation, the Test wiki actually uses emails for when the request is held. Additionally, "Experienced Wikians are just normal Scratchers like them" is not entirely true - on the main site, sure, there is no higher rank than Scratcher besides the Team, but on the Wiki you have been elected to be trusted with this information and, in the rare cases when it's necessary, use it. Besides that, showing the email can help with reviewing the request in the first place - if the email looks like a student email (which frequently can't receive external mail) or looks fake, EWs can then refer the case to a bureaucrat; and that can't be done automatically by the system.
- As to the whole "privacy" thing, we make it clear that we collect emails, and it would be foolish not to expect them to be seen. We also cleared our email collection (and viewing) with the ST, during both the transfers to wiki.scratch.mit.edu and to the current domain.
- All in all, removing emails is more trouble than it's worth, and worth more than its trouble.

Your siggy reminder
First off, I'd like to say thanks for that, it has saved me countless times :')
Second, this is just something that I came to point out which I just now happened to realize. It says "tildas" instead of "tildes". I know it's a tiny error but it bothers me :P (I will fix it on my page if I can figure out how).
Third, how on earth do you play Minecraft and never play survival.
And *inhales* fourth, your name tester thing doesn't say whether "K2s" is okay or not. It has K2S as ok and k2s as not, but since K2s is the case of your name, is it okay?
EIephant_Lover Talk Contributions Subpages 23:32, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
- I've always spelled it tildas even though I do know it's not the more common spelling - so consider this my minor attempt at language reform :)
- Minecraft and never survival: easy, just always creative! I'm sort of a redstone geek and most recently I've tried (and failed) twice to build a 74181 ALU with redstone. (First attempt, 1+1 = 6. Second attempt, 1+1 = 4.)
- K2s is not OK. K2S is OK. Acronyms are all caps.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 11:08, 3 October 2019 (UTC)- 1. No reply was made
- 2. I tried looking it up before I made that post to be sure I wasn't wrong about the misspelling. Then again, the internet doesn't know everything XD
- 3. That makes me cringe XD No problem with using creative but never survival?! It's sometimes more fun to make contraptions (you probably already know but redstone exists in survival XD) in survival, because it's not just all laid out for you. I also have no idea what a 74181 ALU is. Here I go to Google...
- 4. Makes sense :P
EIephant_Lover Talk Contributions Subpages 00:24, 5 October 2019 (UTC)- Regarding tilda/tilde, I'm not saying you're wrong - in fact, I'm admitting that I'm wrong, but I'm using my spelling regardless because I feel it's better spelled that way (I certainly pronounce it like "tilda" and not "tilde") and if I use it enough other people might start following my example and it'll become an alternate spelling rather than an incorrect spelling.
- Regarding Minecraft, let me clarify: I have played in survival mode before, just not an actual survival world. (In fact, I've played in every gamemode.) I know full well that nothing that exists in creative doesn't exist in other modes. :) (A 74181 ALU is one of the original models for the part of a CPU that actually does the calculation. It had two 4-bit number inputs, one 4-bit opcode input, and one 4-bit result output, as well as a few more in/out bits for miscellaneous behavior. It's the simplest ALU model that was actually used commercially, but even then [and even with numbers up to a max of 16!] it's really complicated and I have yet to get it right.)
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 04:24, 5 October 2019 (UTC)- Back to the tilde/tilda thing again, it kind of reminds me of that book Frindle. But I understand now :P
- And ohh, okay. Except for some blocks don't/can't ever exist in survival without the world being in creative/using cheats first, like command blocks.
- No need to explain anymore but that whole ALU thing went over my head XD
