Archive header problem
Due to the structure of my talk pages and archives, the archive header links to the wrong page (my archive directory instead of my talk page). Is there any way to fix this?

- What header are you using? And how are you using it?
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 16:22, 24 April 2019 (UTC)- You can take a look here: User_talk:Dominic305/archives/1
Dominic305 Talk Contribs (1,791) Scratch Directory 16:35, 24 April 2019 (UTC)- Everything is correct except for your page link. The archive page should not be 2 sub page. For example,
/Archive 1
. Not/Archive/1
. This is because the header links to the parent directory, not to the actual talk. But that should change.... Ask in the S:CP to get support.

About Your Rollback on Scratch 3.0
Hi ken! Regarding this rollback. Your description was that was a bug, not a feature - it now finally mimics 2.0 behavior. I disagree and have evidence for doing so. In the this post it is listed under Features not Bugs. It was changed in 3.0, feedback was received and changed back. I decided to post here instead of rolling back.
asqwde talk | contribs 11:51, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- How do I explain it in text? Also FYI you can link to diffs like so.
- In 2.0, the behavior was that uploading a project would replace the current contents.
- In 3.0, the ST decided to change it to create a new project instead. Later, however, they reverted it back to 2.0 behavior from feedback.
- The net result is that there is no difference in the behavior now between 2.0 and 3.0 - so it doesn't need to be mentioned, except for on the Scratch Timeline (feel free to add the info there).

Stubs on block pages
I saw that you reverted my edit because block pages aren't stubs, so I thought I'd look through and fix block pages marked as stubs. I did one, then I realized after looking here there is a lot of stubs on block pages! Should they all be removed?
Dominic305 Talk Contribs (1,791) Scratch Directory 12:11, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, FYI, to link to categories, we include a colon in front of them. Otherwise it would categorize the page normally.
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 13:04, 26 April 2019 (UTC)- ^ And also we don't use underscores in links - that's something I've been meaning to mention to you for a while because you continuously do that.
- To answer the question, yes, they should. If you feel like it, please go ahead and do so; if not, someone else (that may or may not be me) will do it later, most likely.

NYCDOT [ Talk Page | Contributions | Directory ] 17:03, 26 April 2019 (UTC)- No, as long as the topic has been "not done" for a good amount of time (>1-2 months I think) anyone can move it as they see fit. If you disagree, S:BRD applies.
- AotM is indeed a redirect to the WW article.

NYCDOT [ Talk Page | Contributions | Directory ] 20:43, 30 April 2019 (UTC)- Nobody's an annoyance! I don't understand how you might think you're annoying. On the contrary, I'm grateful that you've come back to edit - the Wiki always needs all the help it can get.
- Onto your new international wiki section, I think it looks good but some of the facts are kind of shameful to mention - such as the one about the Dutch wiki having 5 editors. Could you find something impressive instead? Here's one for you: the admin of the Dutch wiki once got a sponsorship from Google for running it.

A question for you
Since you're colorblind as your GitHub page says, does that mean the color spectrums in this image both look the same? (deutaneropia is the colorblindness you have, right?)
Dominic305 Talk Contribs (1,791) Scratch Directory 21:50, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- Please don't link to Github pages. They are against the rules for unmoderated chat. I think. But I do know that it is against Scratch rules.
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 21:52, 4 May 2019 (UTC)- @qwerty, github.io sites follow the same rules as other personal sites - they have to be approved on the forum topic, and only otherwise are they not OK.
- @OP: No, they don't look the same. Most sites class me as a strong deutan, but my actual form of color blindness is that of an overactive green cone, not a deficient one. (That being said, the left side of the spectra [not spectrums], red and green, look the same, but the yellow part is definitely not white to me.) What that means is certain reds can look yellow or orange (red + extra green = yellow); otherwise, reds/greens or blues/purples are hard to distinguish. Keep in mind, as well, that every colorblind person has a different strength and form of color blindness so even for an actual deuteranope those may not look the same.

How does active users get calculated? I heard there was like when a user has made at least one change, then that is an active user. But 72 seems to less to me. Is it really 72?

Archiving Talk Pages
Hi, I'm curious- when should I archive my talk pages?
TenType (talk | contribs) 03:54, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- You can use bytes with this code for when you should archive:
Or you can guess when you should archive.
See also:Help:Archiving a talk page
Ahmetlii (talk | contribs) 07:33, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- Actually, that code is meant only for the Community Portal, where it's a rule that when it's over 125KB it should be archived. It's really up to you to decide when to archive - KrIsMa (talk | contribs) archives at 100 topics, I archive irregularly (though I open a new archive at 20 topics), and others just archive when they feel their talk pages are getting cluttered.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 08:26, 7 May 2019 (UTC)- Do you have to ask someone to protect it, or is it okay if it can be left unprotected?
TenType (talk | contribs) 04:45, 8 May 2019 (UTC)- It's OK for an archive to be unprotected, in case you want to edit it later (I do that with my most recent archive because I continuously add topics), but otherwise usually you don't want anyone editing archives so it's recommended to ask an admin to protect it (which can be done here: S:CPSYS or on any admin's talk).

How to reply on a talkpage
Hello!
I am unsure how to reply to someone on a talkpage. I've read all of the necessary information (at least once) and tried to find the answer via the Wiki search engine itself. Would you be able to help me with this?
Thank you!
WaterGlider02 (talk | contribs) 18:01, 31 May 2019 (UTC)WaterGlider02
- It's simple.You should only click the "Edit" button at the right of topic you want.Then,write your reply (with agree Wiki Guidelines) and press signature button.
Also,you can look Help pages to need help.
Ahmetlii (talk | contribs) 19:20, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- Here's how:
- Scroll down to the topic you want to reply to
- Click the "edit" link on the right side of the section title
- Write your reply
- When replying, add one more colon than the message you're replying to at the start of each line of your message. For example, the number of colons at the start of each line of this message is one, which is one more than the message I'm replying to (yours, with zero colons). When replying to this message of mine, each line in your message should start with two colons, which is one more than my message.
- When the message you're replying to has 6 colons, instead of adding one more, drop the number back down to zero for your reply and add {{outdent|<number of colons>}} at the top of your reply.
- Add four tildas (
~~~~
) to the end of the last line of your message (not on a line of its own!) - Click "show preview" to see what your message will look like
- Click "save changes" to save your message
- That just about covers it, I think. For more you can see Help:Welcome/4 or Help:Talk Pages. You can also look around at other people's messages (edit but don't save to see the source code) to see how they do it.
Quick question
I have a Scratch account that doesn't have a wiki account. Is there a way for only me to edit the user page of that area considering it is owned by me?
JJBullet (Talk ★ Contributions ★ 1,220 edits) 11:02, 4 June 2019 (UTC)- You need to have at least 50 mainspace edits.
NYCDOT [ Talk Page | Contributions | Directory ] 11:03, 4 June 2019 (UTC)- NYCDOT, I'm disappointed... if I explicitly say "I'll let you figure it out" then obviously I mean it. Part of the original criteria for joining the Wiki is the ability to read and understand. If you don't read the S:CONTRIB page, you don't get an account; if you don't read the election page, you don't get to be a candidate.
- JJBullet, as NYCDOT said, you need to have 50 mainspace edits. However, don't go on an editing spree just to qualify - if you edit normally and actively you should reach that number naturally. Don't forget that not all of the people nominated will actually be candidates - and the election coordinators don't look kindly towards those who did just enough to qualify for nomination.
