The Scratch Wiki is a place where Scratchers can write about Scratch to help other Scratchers learn about topics on Scratch by reading articles written by Scratchers. So Far, the Wiki has 1,506 articles, 3,997 users, 4,290 files, and 357,264 edits!

The Scratch Wiki is a thriving community with 1,506 articles, 4,290 files, 357,264 edits, and 3,997 awesome users who have helped make the wiki great! It has existed since 6th December 2008 (about 17 years ago!) and has expanded a lot since then, with about 24 users joining per month. Have fun editing! Here's a list of tips to help you edit the wiki:

Cool tips on how to edit
  1. To edit, click the pencil icon at the top of the page next to your username. Then, click edit. If you don't see the button it may be because the page is protected for certain users.
  2. After you are in the editor, check out the cheatsheet for editing tips.
  3. You can also check out the help pages for more detailed information on editing.
  4. You can test editing features out in the community sandbox (it will get cleared every few hours), or you can make your own sandbox here.
  5. Before making a page, make sure it does not already exist. You can do this by using the search bar located at the top of the page.
  6. If the page you wanted to make is already created, you can create a redirect page! For more info on redirect pages, see this.
  7. To make a page, go here, or type the page name you want in the search bar and then press the link that says "create this page by editing this!"
  8. For information on magic words, check out the MediaWiki Documentatation.


Cool tips for using templates
  1. A list of templates can be found here
  2. To use a template, put it in curly brackets ({{}})
  3. To create a template for yourself, make a subpage of your userpage, like 'User:USERNAME/PAGENAME'.
  4. To use a template you have created, put the name in curly brackets, like {{User:USERNAME/PAGENAME}}
  5. To have a template's code come on a page when you save it, put 'SUBST:' before the template name, like {{SUBST:User:USERNAME/PAGENAME}}

Cool tips for finding pages to edit
  1. Use random page
  2. Check out articles to expand
  3. Check out article stubs
  4. Look at edits on recent changes and see what you can do to improve it even more.
  5. Look at S:CPND for discussions to take part in


Cool tips for posting on talk pages
  1. To post on someone's talk page, simply press the pencil icon and then press "New Topic". Type in the subject and message.
  2. Then, make sure you sign your post with 4 tildes (~~~~)
  3. When replying to a talk page post, edit the section that has the message and then indent your post with a colon (:). If someone already replied, use one more colon then they used. (See example conversation below)

Hello, I'm TemplatesFTW, a bot that does various maintenance tasks in the background. This is just a friendly reminder that when uploading File:Nano1 tiny.png, the image size was kinda big, and it could have been smaller if you had compressed it with TinyPNG.
