Email address confirmation failed

The title says it all, when I pressed the link it said: "Invalid confirmation code. The code may have expired.". Can this be because of IP addresses (again)? It can't be expired, it doesn't until October. Thanks!

Of course you're not, did I send some sort of message to you by accident? Sorry then! And it really was because of my IP address, I read the message from my tablet instead of my PC, so when I resent it I read the email on my PC and it worked! It wasn't because of my country, it was because of the different device, thanks for the help!

Hi, I made a signature at User:Leahcimto/Signature and then made User:Leahcimto/minisig and updated my preferences, but my signature did not update. Do you know why this is and how I can get it to update? I followed the directions at S:SIG.

How do you sign? Do you sign with the 4 tildes (~) or are you using <scratchsig>? The tildes is what you should use when you use a custom sig.

Hi! According to the MediaWiki documentation, you can use the magic word {{REVISIONSIZE}}; for example, this page is 24436 bytes. The page I linked has helpful information about other magic words as well.

Updating Image

I created a new version of https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/File:Create_a_cloud_variable.png to update it, but it looks like it might be protected because there isn't a button for me to upload a new version of it. Why is it protected? Could you unprotect it briefly so that I can update it and then you can protect it again (if you think it still needs to be protected)? Thanks

Hi there! It isn't actually protected; as it says on the file description page, it is "from a shared repository and may be used by other projects." These files are a bit confusing, but it needs to be updated here, on the test wiki: tw:File:Create a cloud variable.png However, most users here (including me, currently) don't have accounts on the test wiki, so I'm not sure how much benefit there is to having it only be able to be updated there. I think you may want to just create a new file and replace the mainspace use(s) of the old file with the new one. Does that sound good to you?

As said in the CP, you can use span stylings with the CSS attribute of color. You could also use {{link attributes}}

Update "Scratch Wiki" page

Should we add that the Wiki was updated to MediaWiki 1.35 yesterday under "History"? I can't of course because it's protected. :( Also, these updates look really cool! I like the new buttons and tabs in preferences :)

Yes, there should be....

Check out mw:Help:Parser functions in templates. These are if statements so you can check what namespace it is.

Help:Magic words#Namespaces will have the variables used so you can check the namespaces.

I'm not sure if this actually works... but you can check in your sandbox or the wiki sandbox

Oh, if you want multiple options, instead of doing multiple if statements, you can use a switch statement. A great example using this switch statement is Bigpuppy's Tip of the day!

You'll be fine! Test it out. Transclusion allows for the templates' variables to be of the page you have transcluded to.

Bigpuppy I think you should make the color of the word "Expand" on the archive section and the word "Collapse" on the Reminders section, darker. The color of the above mentioned words are too light.

I believe that bigpuppy's using the {{collapse top}} and {{collapse bottom}} templates. In order to change the color, you'd need to change the template which would change everywhere it is used.

I'm not actually using the {{collapse top}} and {{collapse bottom}} templates there; I'm using the mw-collapsible class in the tables. Dude613, the reason the contrast isn't good is because the default color of the top of tables changed with the MediaWiki upgrade. I'm not sure whether I would be able to change the color of the "Expand" and "Collapse" text, though I might be able to. Anyway, I would probably opt for changing the color of the top of the table (there's probably a way to do that) instead. I might do that eventually. Thank you for the suggestion!

Hi, please make sure you've entered your email correctly and that you've sent the verification email (if your email is not verified, there should be an option to resend the verification email). Also check your spam folder, as automated emails sometimes get erroneously marked as spam.

A Few Questions

Hello Bigpuppy! I was wondering a couple of things. First of all, how can I put a line's spacing between the table of contents and the first message I received on my talk page here. I also was trying to edit something and all the black text on my talk page turned orange. Lastly, when I'm uploading a file, I get this message- "The action you are attempting was automatically blocked. Please read the message below for details on why.

You must enter a comment when uploading a new version of a file or editing a file page. You must also include a category when uploading new files."

I'm not sure what this means or how to "enter a comment". Thank you, I'm still grasping some knowledge on how to do things on the Wiki.

Hi! For the table of contents thing, just add a blank line between the line with __TOC__ and the line with the start of the talk page message.

As for the colored text, that's probably because you have an unclosed instance of <span style="color:#ffbb00;font-family:Arial"> in the code of your header, and an unclosed instance of <span style="color:#f0bc02"> in the code of your talk page. You need to close these with </span>.

Finally, for the image uploading issue, you weren't able to upload the file because you either didn't enter anything in the "Summary" box while uploading, or you didn't include a file category (see Help:Categories for more information).

Ok! Thank you! I was able to fix the 1st and 3rd issues, as for the 2nd one, I am still a bit confused. So, where does the </span> go in the code? I understand I need to close it but I tried doing <span style="color:#f0bc02"/span> and <span style="color:#f0bc02"></span> but neither of them worked. Could you rewrite the code I need to do, please?
