Try to use edit summaries
Hi there! I saw you made a lot of edits today - great job! Thing is, when I look at Special:RecentChanges, I can't tell at a glance what your edits are doing. It would be really helpful if you could leave an "edit summary" - a little message attached to your edit that shows up in histories and logs. To do that, type the edit summary into the box provided (right above "this is a minor edit") before you save the page.
By the way, you can also mark your edits as "minor" using the "this is a minor edit" checkbox if your edit is really small (like a grammar fix or a wording change).
Thanks!

Please add your welcome message in a new section
On --Waterfall--'s talk page, I saw you left a welcome message - very nice! :D However, only the original welcome message (i.e. the message from the person who accepted the account) shouldn't have a header - for your own welcome message, add it in a new section. To do that, click the pencil and choose "+" or "New section" or "Add topic", whatever it's called in there, then add your message in there. Thanks!

FAQ pages do not need capitalized titles
If you look at the Scratch Wiki:Editing Conventions#Capitalization, you will see that only proper nouns in, and the start of, FAQ titles are capitalized; everything else is left lowercase, for easier searching. Thanks!

- Ok. Thanks for letting me know.
asqwde talk | contribs 09:12, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
That's too many capitals
Only article titles are capitalized Like This! The terms they describe should not be capitalized unless they are proper nouns in and of themselves. For example, the Set Pen Color to () (block) page refers to the "set pen color to ()" block, not the "Set Pen Color to ()" block; the Scratch Team page, however, refers to the "Scratch Team", which remains capitalized because it is a proper noun.
Hope that clears it up! I'm going to be going through your edits later and cleaning up the actual capitals, but please don't take this personally - everyone makes mistakes, including myself ;)

Hello!
Hello there - Nice to meet you. I'm banana439monkey. A few friends have picked up on messages you sent concerning making edits in a short amount of time. Though you may not know it, it is preferred you do not do this. It is WikiMonitor's job to do this, and you need to make a set amount of edits in a set amount of time to trigger the message. From what I can see, one of the people you notified edited three times in one hundred and twenty minutes. In my own opinion, that's not a lot of edits in a long space of time. I'm unsure if this is a prank, or anything else, but please refrain from it. It is unfair on the community and it just wrecks the point of WikiMonitor.- Thanks for informing me
asqwde talk | contribs 21:43, 14 February 2018 (UTC)- For reference, WikiMonitor's threshold for a "too many edits" message is 6 edits in 60 minutes. As banana said, that user only made 3 edits in 120 minutes - a quarter of the threshold.
- Thank you for realizing what you're doing so quickly, though! Don't worry - remember that everyone makes mistakes, including both veterans and newbies :)

About your removal of the dates which FPC's are a curator
What I'm talking about.
I was just wondering why you removed the dates for the time frame of each future curator will be a curator in. I put it b/c people might wonder/don't know when those FFPC's (The extra F is for future) will actually become a FPC. I do not get how it would mess up announcements.
Thanks. :)

- Hello. Firstly when making a new message on someones talk click the pencil and click "New Topic" There is this bot on the wiki called WikiMonitor Every week this robot changes the current FPC to the next one in the list. Now if the list have dates then it would put the current FPC with the date and publish it on the homepage and mess up the whole system. Hope this makes it clearer and let me know if you have any questions?

Can you stop fixing S:STYLE#whitespace-headings?
Hi, I noticed that you were making a lot of edits that said "fixed according to S:STYLE", but actually only fixed S:STYLE#whitespace-headings one guideline. I've tweaked that particular rule now. The whitespace between the == and the heading title is no longer required. Since I noticed in particular that you were only fixing the inner whitespace, could you please desist from making edits consisting of only fixing that guideline? I know I tweaked the guideline very recently, but nevertheless the inner whitespace is the least significant guideline and does not deserve an edit of its own.
If you want to fix the inner whitespace of a heading in the future, please combine that purpose with some other purpose in the same edit (like fixing typos plus fixing heading whitespace, or fixing list whitespace and heading whitespace, just never heading whitespace on its own). Edits with whitespace changes only are not significant enough to be counted as helpful (and can indeed be unhelpful, considering each edit takes up an entire page's worth of storage).
Thanks.

It's better to only fix S:STYLE on pages with the bad style template
Hi! I saw you're hard at work on fixing S:STYLE. But there's something you didn't notice (which is understandable, since it's hidden from RC by default): my bot fixes all of the things you are currently fixing already. Could you only fix S:STYLE on pages that have the {{bad style}} template? Thanks.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 11:51, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- Ok, is there anyway i can get a link to all the pages with the template? Also if i fix everything with that template can i fix random pages or should i stop?
asqwde talk | contribs 11:54, 9 July 2018 (UTC)- Link to all pages with the template: https://en.scratch-wiki.info/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Bad_style&hidelinks=1
- If you fix everything with the template, I think you should just stop. Consider your work for the day done. Or, you could change modes - try removing first or second person (I/we/us and you) from pages, since that is something no bot can do.

Please don't edit other people's posts
Howdy! I noticed you edited someone else's post in the Community Portal. Even if you're fixing a mistake that person made (you were fixing the {{not done}} template in the person's post), editing others' posts is a violation of userspace, so please don't do it.* Nonetheless, I know your intentions were good, so thank you.
Thanks for all your awesome contributions to the wiki. Keep on editing!
*Unless, of course, someone edited someone else's message and you're undoing their edit. That is acceptable.
bigpuppy talk ▪︎ contribs 14:24, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- Look here
asqwde talk | contribs 14:26, 10 July 2018 (UTC)- That, in my opinion, is also a violation of userspace.
- In my opinion, editing others' messages (in any way except if the message breaks the Community Guidelines, you're undoing someone else's edit to a message, or the person gave you permission) is not OK. Although I know your edit was in good spirit, as far as I know, there is not exception listed on Scratch Wiki:Userspace saying it's okay to edit other people's messages if the message contains a mistake.
- I encourage you to ask the person who posted the message to edit their message instead of changing it yourself. Or, since the person meant to post the {{not done}} template, you could even post a new message (signed by you) with the {{not done}} template! (That might be even better than asking them to change their message - it takes effect immediately!)
- In conclusion, please don't edit other people's messages, unless you're undoing someone else's edit to a message that isn't their own, or your edit fits one of the exceptions listed at Scratch Wiki:Userspace#User talk pages. I know it says "User talk pages", but I'm guessing it applies for all messages.
- Thanks for your time. Scratch on, and thanks for all your amazing wiki edits!

About this edit
First off, I used plain rollback since you violated S:BRD, that explains that.
Next. I am completely aware that program can mean schedule, but in American English "program" can mean two things where "programme" can only mean one. The former could mean schedule or a set of instructions, the latter can only mean schedule. I kept it at programme to keep it unambiguous. Do you understand now?

Anyway, if they add their signature later then it's signed. You can even replace an {{unsigned}} template with your signature (assuming the unsigned template refers to you). Letting you know.

Use subst:date for templates with dates!
Hi, I've seen you add the wrong dates to templates. You add dates like this: 23 July, 2024, but the date is actually just supposed to be like this: July 2024.
Use {{subst:date}}
to simply produce a date in the correct format. E.g. like so:
{{stub|date={{subst:date}}}}
The "subst:date" thing will replace itself with the correct date format when you save.
Thanks!
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 01:20, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- But why not have the day of the month on the template as well. If you look and it says September then that is quite a large scale around 30 days. Why not have it on a specific date?
asqwde talk | contribs 07:10, 27 September 2018 (UTC)- I've considered that myself, and I don't remember why I chose month-year, but I think it had to do with the fact that we don't need that much specificity. I do know that "date" is misleading, but it's too late to change that now. Anyway, please just follow the convention, ideally by either using subst:date or not putting the date in at all and instead letting my bot do it.

about teaching technical skills
- I don't believe in teaching technical skill outside of a place where I can more or less instantaneously communicate. Since I've blocked you on Discord due to our incompatiblity there, I can't really teach you
- I also believe in self-teaching. If you want to learn technical skill, search up some tutorials! Codeacademy is one of the sites that got me started with PHP (though my first language was Python, which I learned from a book). Our stack is as follows:
- PHP
- MySQL
- JavaScript
- Ideally a nice vocabulary in some other languages too
I am not able or willing to teach you the technical skill required to become noteworthy. I highly recommend you experiment around with various programming languages (though especially PHP) and become proficient in at least one. Of course, another thing I mentioned on the Not Done post was multiculturalism, or at least the ability to handle it. I'm a highly mixed-ethnicity American living in Hong Kong; I grew up living with many cultures. Though you didn't grow up with it, you can still learn how to interact with people from other cultures, which is another thing I recommend you do yourself - I can't teach you, since it's a natural response to me.
Essentially, if you truly want to help the Test wiki with your administrative skill, rather than treating the usergroup as a badge or a right, when it is in fact a privilege, you need to learn quite a few more skills. And if you really want to administrate, instead of waiting for others to teach you those skills, you will learn them yourself.

- Why do i need to learn PHP. It is out of date and codecademy doesn't even support it.
asqwde talk | contribs 11:56, 14 October 2018 (UTC)- Badly made as it may be, it's what MediaWiki runs on and therefore you can't really go without it.

News?
How did you make the news bar? Can I check out the source code?

Sidebar
Not sure if I'm doing this right--adding another section by clicking on an existing one, that is. Anyway, how did you make your sidebar? I am curious.

- You need the style attributes of
position:fixed;left:0;bottom:0;
- Then just design it to how you want.

Awesome, thanks!

Hold up
Hold up, why does (Days Since 2000) need to be deleted. It seems like a useful redirect.
Jakel181 (talk | contribs) 21:14, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hi! I’ve never seen redirects with brackets around them. Usually we have block redirects for the block name without the (block) at the end. I personally wouldn’t search it with brackets. If you disagree, feel free to bring it up on the talk page. Wiki On!
asqwde talk | contribs 21:32, 25 April 2019 (UTC)- Ah makes sense.
Jakel181 (talk | contribs) 22:00, 25 April 2019 (UTC)- Trivia: That redirect has existed since 2013 (created by ErnieParke, no less!). It's a remnant of a former custom, which was (I suspect) to have redirects matching scratchblocks code.

The Revert On Featured Studios
I reverted your edit because Pottery and Clay is still a Featured Studio. Hope this clears up anything.

- Pottery and Clay is no longer featured, you might need to do a Hard Refresh.
asqwde talk | contribs 16:57, 1 May 2019 (UTC)- I did so, thanks for telling me.

About the April Fools template
{{April Fools}} is the template that goes at the top of the real article; {{AF}} is the template that goes on the AF article. AF is not a template redirect to April Fools. FYI since I've seen you use AF where April Fools should have been used.
