Rewriting

 Unresolved (see all...)

Unfortunately this page appears to be written mainly in second person and is relatively opinionated and somewhat unprofessional. I think it needs to be redone but I doubt I'd be the person qualified to do it. Could anyone rewrite it up to the Wiki standards?

I see. I'm not qualified to completely rewrite, but I attempted, and then saved it somewhere else and cancelled. Let me know if you would like to see what I rewrote it as. I made it not a tutorial, which to be honest strips it of its purpose, if it has any.

Usefulness

 Unresolved (see all...)

Is this really neccesary to be a seperate article? This could be merged with Animations.
Wolvesstar97 (talk | contribs) 20:17, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Agreed. Also, it's not Scratch-specific and it's in second person, which is bad form.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 23:52, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
I think it could be... we hardly have any real animating tutorials that focus on the drawing, rather than the scripting. It could be renamed to Drawing cartoons, and re-written to be wiki-like.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:50, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Or Drawing Animations. I think "animation" is a better term than "cartoon".
Wolvesstar97 (talk | contribs) 16:53, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Maybe.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:34, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
I think it would be most appropriate to merge with Animation-The Basics
Bsteward (talk | contribs)22:18, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
I say we totally don't need this. It adds no value to the Wiki whatsoever, really.
Hardmath123 (talk | contribs) 16:04, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Hardmath. :/
ProgrammingFreak (talk | contribs) 16:33, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
"totally don't need this" seems a bit harsh :/ Admittedly I'm not one for animations, but I know that many Scratchers do like them and would find the article useful.
I think it would be great to merge the two articles.

When I posted that, it was a pretty bare article, which was just around 10 lines if I remember right. To be honest, now it's much better, and I'm undecided over merging or leaving this as a standalone article. :)
Hardmath123 (talk | contribs) 10:39, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
This article has very little value to the wiki alone, and I think merging it would be a good idea.
Mathfreak231 (talk | contribs) 23:26, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
I am fixing it all. :)

No.

I think that the topic area needs to be completely re done as it is not up to quite lines and includes opinions.
Gcenac (talk | contribs) 20:03, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
I quite agree with that. I don't think it should be merged though, because Animations is informational, while this is a tutorial.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 20:13, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────This shouldn't be merged since it has lots of information.

Merging the articles would work; this article could add more art to the original Animations article.

From the creation date of the thread till now the article in question has been modified and improved on pretty significantly - personally I‘m leaning away from the merge towards preserving this as a standalone article. The information there is pretty basic and redundant when taking into account the presence of other numerous articles regarding animation, but at the same time it would still act as a useful resource to newer users on the site.
The thread has been inactive for a while now, so I’ve written up a new section linked to the article under Animation Projects as a temporary solution.

I know this is off-topic, but wow, the move log on this talk page... xD

Is this topic really necessary itself?

Yes Resolved (since an unknown date)

Is the subject of 'how to make a story animation' really necessary? I keep trying to edit this article but I find it hard to make it into something actually informational.

References

There aren't any references or citations here, I'm not good with those, but if anyone else is, please check it out! -Polychrome- 16:42, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

The article was written as more of a guide rather than an informational resource - majority of the write-up is more opinionated than factual. I don’t foresee much citation work to be done if the article isn’t reworked, so it would be best to focus on the previous threads for now to keep the discussion organised.
