Is it ok...
...to add som scratchers' names' abbreviations? I was thinking about:
- SRR
- sci
- a few others
I'm not adding things like Hardmath for Hardmath123, I'll add ones that are unobvious.
Hardmath123 (talk | contribs) 05:46, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- Don't think we need that. Also, has anyone called P2S P2C?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:12, 27 May 2011 (UTC)- I have...
Hardmath123 (talk | contribs) 07:23, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- I have...
LOLZ and ROFL
Can someone add those? I don't know what they stand for. ^^
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:41, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- I added ROFL, and LOLZ is basically the same as LOL.
BWOG (talk | contribs) 19:39, 29 May 2011 (UTC)- What's the Z?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:00, 30 May 2011 (UTC)- Well I'm no internet historian but I assume it started out as "lol," then it evolved into a noun, eg. "Wen u sed that i had lols" and then for whatever reason the "s" was replaced with a "z" and then it evolved back into a verb/expression. It's kind of like "pwn." That became what it is because when people were writing "own" quickly they accidentally pressed the "p" button because it is next to "o" on a QWERTY keyboard, and it just evolved over time.

Wow, 3 illegal characters in one title, a record for me! :P
Should that be labeled under "O", "[", or "/"?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:47, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- o
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 18:15, 29 May 2011 (UTC)- So why is it "[/offtopic]"?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:22, 29 May 2011 (UTC)- mocking bbcode

But...
Most of this is just common internet speak, it doesn't really have anything to do with Scratch apart from a abbreviations for a few things. Plus this lists like one hundredth of all internet speak, and there are much fuller lists all over the internet. For example, here. What is the point in this when we can just add the abbreviations pertaining to Scratch to the Scratch Terms Glossary?
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 07:41, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was wondering that too... "LOL" and other acronyms are everywhere, not just on the Scratch website.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 09:07, 30 May 2011 (UTC)- So how about only keeping the ones specific to Scratch, like SDS?

AAS
Does anybody ever really say AAS, they have changed the name of that forum...
Joletole (talk | contribs) 10:41, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- Umm, not anymore. They used to a bit before those updates. I guess I should remove that bit.

Copy and Paste?
I've never heard of C&P before... is it used often?

Multiple links

I've noticed that there are a lot of repeating links. QaS is linked multiple times, and so is Scratch Team. Should we remove them?

- The answer is, yes for most of the time. See here for a more detailed answer.
ahmetlii Talk Contributions Directory 14:18, 19 August 2022 (UTC)- Yes, I think they should be removed too.
Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 15:56, 19 August 2022 (UTC)- I have removed one of those links.
Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 16:49, 19 August 2022 (UTC)- Yes I agree. I think some of them should be removed.
Filmlover12 Talk Contribs Scratch 17:08, 19 August 2022 (UTC)- Only problem that I still see here is that it doesnt make since to not link QaS in the abbreviation for it.
han614698 talk • contribs (2,173) • profile 17:24, 19 August 2022 (UTC)- Yes

Most of these are also used on scratch

How about we rename the page to 'Scratch Abbreviations' or 'Abbreviations on Scratch'?
Vdiu | Talk | Contributions | Scratch Profile 10:21, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- There is already List of Commonly Used Abbreviations on Scratch for abbreviations used outside of the forums; abbreviations referring to the forums or almost entirely used on the forums go on this page.
Jammum (💬 Talk - ✍️ Contribs) 10:42, 28 August 2022 (UTC)- Ok. I didn't know.
