recycle49's Account

Just to let the other administrators and bureaucrats know, I created recycle49's account even though his reason as to why he wanted to join was simply "I." I assumed he meant to say more and so contacted him on one of his projects and he has told me the full reason, so I deemed his account credible for creation.

We can't see submissions from approved users, so it doesn't matter. :P
Very good WeirdF! Very thoughtful. :)
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 12:05, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
However it appears that he is having the same problem as those other users had. He can't log in. I forgot to keep his password... Shall I ask him to request his account again?
WeirdF (talk | contribs)
I fixed it! :). You accidentally added a space at the end of the password. BTW - WeirdF, when posting your signature, you should put 4 "~" characters - not 3 :). This way, you get a timestamp too.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 20:28, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
How did you do that!!!??? :O :O :O
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 23:36, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

@Lucario: I don't want a timestamp, first of all it ruins my signature, and secondly if I had a timestamp I'd want it to be GMT not UTC.
WeirdF (talk | contribs)

WeirdF, I do respect your opinion about timestamps, but timestamps to help keep this place in order, to see the time difference of a post relative to another person's post, and for archiving different discussion threads. I know it may mess up your signature (maybe like Shadow's), but it keeps things in order here. If I had it my way, I would have it set to EST, Scratch Time, where I live, but it's too much of a hassle to do that for each every individual person's time zone. I hate to say it, but there's more important things than just the appearance of your signature. I don't want to make it sound like this, but I am a bit demanding you to do this (D:). So thanks,
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 20:11, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
All right then... :( I'm sorry...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 05:43, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
It's ok :P

Idea for future Editors

Well, when i fist got my account, i could not log in. I contaced WierdF who thaten contacted Lucario, my isue was a space at the end or begining. That got me thinking, why not take out spaces at the beging or end. This would save alot of time for some Scratchers. I was told to contact JSO on this.recycle49 14:17, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

I think account approvers just have to be more careful. Copy and paste it into notepad first, to make sure you don't have any extra spaces or anything :) Thanks for reporting this to us.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 19:58, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
I always paste it into Notepad first to make sure I'm giving the right password. :)
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 23:47, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Cool! :)

Creating Redirects

A lot of users create a redirect and leave a summary, when in fact it's easier to not leave a summary, and it has an automatic summary. This is (Redirected page to PAGE NAME).

It's easier if you let it leave a summary for itself, and it shows other users what it has been redirected to.
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 08:33, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip! :)
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 09:05, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
:O Thanks a ton!
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 09:59, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Cool! I didn't noticed that it did that! :P

Is Scratch Wiki:Community Portal necessary?

Clicking on Community Portal takes you directly to this discussion page now, so is it necessary?
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 09:05, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Well it does contain useful information about the community portal, so it would be good if that text was moved into the discussion page... Or even better if this page was swapped with the other page, so it wasn't a talk page.
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 07:57, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
We could just take the text from there and put it at the top of this page... what do you think?
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 08:19, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I'd rather keep it for now. I do want to hopefully add links to various other pages there, and other stuff, if I get the time/motivation xP. As for the idea of putting the information at the top of this page, I just don't want to crowd it TOO much, or else people won't read it. So.... yeah.

Users Online

I think there should be something somewhere which shows which users are online on the Wiki, like the in forums. What do other people think?
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 06:42, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that could be implemented... :/
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:52, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Meh... I just like new stuff...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 07:26, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, why would that be neccessary?
Aidan (talk | contribs) 02:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

I dunno... It wouldn't be whatsoever in any way I suppose, I just wanted there to be something new somewhere...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 06:01, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

I see the idea, and I think it's possible with a certain extension, but I don't think it's needed - when I was deciding what extensions to use, that one I saw was interesting, but it's not really needed. Plus, users deserve their privacy.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 19:47, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Well, then shouldn't the Scratch Team remove the 'online' thing after each user's post? I mean, if you are going to think like that, you should be consistant. (Unless you want this to happen) :/ Jwosty 15:31, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Exactly - go suggest that they remove the Online stuff from the Scratch Forums and TBG. :P
I don't like the idea of having that stuff here though...

Account Creation Problem

I'd say a couple of people everyday request to become a contributor on the Scratch Wiki, but most of them don't get approved, isn't the list of accounts that are on hold just going to get bigger and bigger, and eventually it will get too confusing and we won't be able to sort out whose accounts get created? Is there some way you can delete an account request, and when the user tries to find out whether their account has been created, they get a message saying "Sorry, your account request was not accepted" or something?
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 06:48, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah... it isn't a place for people on hold, it's a place for rejected submissions. :/
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 09:00, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Basically as Jonathanpb said. I don't have much to say about this - try asking andresmh by contacting the Scratch Team though :)
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 19:49, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Why don't we just ask JSO to change the wording "on hold" to "rejected submissions"?
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:05, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
And "log in with a bureaucrat account" to "log in with an administrator account". >:D
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 07:43, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
@Chrischb: I just asked JSO, he should fix it soon :) As far as the other issue you guys are talking about, I'll ask andres about it.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 16:06, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

100 users!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Sadly, most of them aren't contributing anymore. Dx
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 05:34, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Well I usually contact people and tell them that their account has been approved after I've made an account, because I think most people forget to check... Which is why they never contribute...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 07:05, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
You do? The rest of us don't. ^_^ Anyway - lots of people do edits for a few days, then give up on the wiki - I'm glad we didn't. :D
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 11:20, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Yay! Though it really doesn't matter if they don't contribute much - that isn't our goal here. We just want to give everybody a chance here :).
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 23:44, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Over 500 Redirects!

Including the new misspelling redirects, we have over 500 redirects now! :O :D
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 10:24, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Agh, it'll get harder and harder to find uncategorized redirects! :O
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 10:33, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Nice Experimental Viewer article guys!

It's just been like 2 days or something, and the article already has tons of information! :D It feels like something I'd read on wikipedia (complement for ya guys :P). Keep on the good work :P Be sure to add bugs and stuff...
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 11:05, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! :)
