Scratch Store
There's a page on the current website called "Scratch Store", but we're not planning on making an equivalent page on our new website. Would you guys like to create one? Here's the current one: http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Scratch_Store
I'm not sure it should be called "Scratch Store" - maybe 'Books about Scratch' for the books, and 'Scratch extensions' for the picoboard / wedo? In any case, if anyone'd like to go for it and make a page, that'd be great!
Lightnin (talk | contribs) 14:51, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- Cool idea Lightnin! What do you think would be the best way to organize the pages? Should they be somewhat like normal articles, with a section image, and short paragraph for each item? Or something more similar to what is on the current "Scratch Store" page?
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 22:41, 25 September 2012 (UTC) - The only problem I see is that, with little idea of the exact plans for the new website, it will be difficult to match the style/color scheme; if one of us makes a page, won't it look out of place?
MoreGamesNow (talk | contribs) 23:49, 25 September 2012 (UTC) - I think just one page will suffice. I can help, I'm great with HTML5/CSS. :)
Hardmath123 (talk | contribs) 10:57, 26 September 2012 (UTC) - I'd love to help, if needed. :)
ProgrammingFreak (talk | contribs) 19:09, 27 September 2012 (UTC) - Scratch Store? Scratch Extension?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:09, 29 September 2012 (UTC)- Ah, so we do already have a Scratch Store article. It would probably be most clear if we included everything on one page (although we would still keep our specific pages about the PicoBoard and LEGO WeDo). However, the article could definitely use some improvement (like adding pictures and organizing things better). :)
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 20:27, 30 September 2012 (UTC) - Ok, that sounds ok. How about adding thumbnails for this new book (and the rest of the books about Scratch) http://nostarch.com/scratch

- OK, I've updated the Scratch Store page. It looks mostly like the current one on the info.scratch.mit.edu page, although we can certainly make changes. It also includes the additional book that Lightnin mentioned. :)

"on one of his/her projects" Link
On the Main Page, the line should be like this.
"on one of his/her projects."
The link would lead to their user page.
Joletole (talk | contribs) 12:42, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- That's a cool idea, but I don't think it's really necessary. If somebody really wants to see the user's projects, they can find it themselves on the website. We generally want to put more emphasis on the projects the Scratcher is curating more than the Scratcher themselves. This reminds me of how in the early curator days, instead of a "Learn more" link, there was a link to the curator's user page, making more viewers go to the curator's page than the projects being curated. It was removed for this very reason; so I think it would be best to do the same on the wiki. :)

Requests for Help
This isn't a question, but I'd like you all to know that if your user page disappears you can ask me on my discussion page to recreate it and you can recustomize it.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 00:43, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Pierre_10_10's page has not been created by that user yet. It wasn't deleted, he just didn't create it yet. Also, I am sure everybody knows how to undo an edit on this wiki, so sorry, but we don't need your help. Edit on!
Joletole (talk | contribs) 19:21, 30 September 2012 (UTC)- Ok. But just in case.

Scratch 2.0 beta testing
Shouldn't the fact that Scratch 2.0 has entered beta testing be on the news section here?
Technoboy10 (talk | contribs) 15:25, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I just realized that they still call the prototype site alpha.
Technoboy10 (talk | contribs) 15:32, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
sinh, etc.
I've posted this, but nobody is responding. For "List of Mathematical Functions Done in Scratch", there is a section on sinh, cosh, tanh, coth, sech, and csch. A lot of them seem to have this expression: e^x - e^x. Noticing that this cancels out and is basically a redundant way of writing zero, I looked it up, and believe there should be a "negative x" where one of the "positive x's" are. I already changed the top two, but would like confirmation before continuing.
MoreGamesNow (talk | contribs) 00:17, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Good point! I had a go at fixing them based on the Wikipedia article; if someone could check my scripts/formulas, that'd be great. I'll check them myself once I find my maths textbook... :P
Blob8108 (talk | contribs) 08:12, 1 October 2012 (UTC)- Now we have the opposite problem. In stead of (x-x) we have (x+ (-x)) (which is essentially the same thing, but all the equations that seemed to make sense now seem redundant and all the ones that were redundant now seem to make sense). I don't know much of anything about this, but it doesn't seem right :/
MoreGamesNow (talk | contribs) 17:51, 1 October 2012 (UTC)- I'm pretty sure that's right, if you check the linked Wikipedia article. e^(-x) means 1/(e^x), which is definitely not the same as e^x — so they don't cancel in the same way that e^x - e^x does (which is clearly wrong!). I think it's fine :)
Blob8108 (talk | contribs) 18:38, 1 October 2012 (UTC)- Oops, you're right. Anyway, thanks for fixing it :)

Help Box Search Bar
How do you create a search bar like in the help box? I want to design my own help box, but I need the search bar thing.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 19:58, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Just copy the code, changing links.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:55, 9 October 2012 (UTC)- I can't find the code.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 19:16, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

<inputbox> type=search prefix=User talk: ns3=1 width=60 searchbuttonlabel=Search this talk page and its archives </inputbox>
- Is that what you wanted?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 19:28, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- Is that what you wanted?
And we've reached...
700 articles!!!!!!! :D :D :D
Congratulations to Hardmath123, who's working on #700, Scratch 2.0 Paint Editor. Now, to update the front page...
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 16:01, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- Out of curiosity, how come the main page still shows 699?
Hardmath123 (talk | contribs) 05:52, 11 October 2012 (UTC)- Um... that's really odd. I don't see an article that was deleted recently... Oh, that might have been Scratch Errors. Oops. I guess we need a new 700th now. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:57, 12 October 2012 (UTC)- User:Curiouscrab/letter is the correct 700th article.
360-International (talk | contribs) 04:10, 15 October 2012 (UTC)- No, because that's not in the article namespace. Maintenance Mode is.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:04, 15 October 2012 (UTC)- I got number 700!!!!
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 20:43, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Just a quick question
Does there have to be a specific length before I can archive my user talk page, because it is getting pretty long.
Joletole (talk | contribs) 21:41, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, it's really up to you. Whenever you feel that it takes a *long* time to scroll down through, or its difficult to find a particular section, then it's probably a good time. I would recommend archiving after 10 or 15 sections, but it really depends on how long each discussion is. :)

Make a page
Can I make a new page or do someone else P.S. I am new -Snorp09-
- Sign your pages with your scratchsig using <scratchsig>Snorp09</scratchsig> or use four tildes ~~~~ I would save the page making until after you create your userpage and your discussion page. Then see:
and
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 02:16, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- Well, no, not exactly. Curious, it isn't first priority to edit your user page. I didnt make my user page until I made over 100 edits. I think, making the user page is the last priority. But, to answer your question, just search it in the search bar above.
Joletole (talk | contribs) 02:43, 17 October 2012 (UTC)- It was a recommendation. It would be like a practice with new stuff.

Moving on from Scratch
I was unable to find AfC (articles for creation) so i made an article in my user space, but i have now moved it here: [1]
I would like some people to help me on this, I am making an article on what to do when they are "growing out" of Scratch.
Kidomat43 (talk | contribs) 16:45, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- Do you want me to create the page, Moving On?
Joletole (talk | contribs) 18:13, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this warrants its own article. It seems it could just be a subsection of Quitting
MoreGamesNow (talk | contribs) 20:54, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- But it's not quitting, but continuing your career to turn programming into a job.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 21:37, 23 October 2012 (UTC) - Maybe Alternatives to Scratch could be merged into it.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

formatting
Can you convert the formatting of the red block sprite to an image? I can't get it to work. Instead I end up with sprite instead of costume.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 20:52, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- (moved to the Community Portal as this isn't user specific)
- This help page covers how to create images.

picture
I changed my profile picture, but it didn't change on my signature. Can somebody fix this?
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 01:14, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- It's just a bit of caching. Clearing your cache usually does it, but sometimes it's the server's cache, which can take a couple days to flush out.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:41, 26 October 2012 (UTC)- I'll wait three and then ask again.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 19:21, 26 October 2012 (UTC)- Never mind. It worked.

page deletion
Please delete this page: Hi every one!. It has been moved to the users domain. Thanks.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 01:02, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, although I thought the admin after they delete it would respond that it was deleted.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 14:25, 28 October 2012 (UTC)- Oh, i guess i forgot.

It's been 2000 days since Scratch started!! Woohooo!!! Should it go on S:N? Or S:CE?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 21:43, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

How many pages are the recommended amount that you make for your profile, like User:KrIsMa/Sandbox and other pages under my name?
KrIsMa (talk | contribs) 02:04, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- As many as you want. But try not to create too much because this could cause confusion. If you ever get confused, just hit the What links here button in your user page.
Joletole (talk | contribs) 02:10, 6 November 2012 (UTC) - Check out how many I have. Edit conflict with Joletole. In my favorites go to "User Namespaces" and see how many I have.

funny thing
I looked at my user page and realized that for every edit everybody makes, they are technically editing my user page. At the bottom I have the recent activity and it changes all the time. I like the color gold, so most of my headers are gold.
Curiouscrab (talk | contribs) 02:40, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
archive time
With 23 (including this one) headings it takes forver to scroll and lags a lot. I think it's time for a new archive.
