Yayyyyy 8D
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:01, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Im gonna have to completely re-write my Scratch UI page most likely
Dazman (talk | contribs) 07:30, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
It needs a re-write anyways, the organization is terrible
Dazman (talk | contribs) 07:30, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Great list! I'm looking forward to doing some of it lol.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:30, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Yay! There'll be so much stuff to do! Exciting! Awesome list btw :)
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 17:01, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Yay can't wait for the images. It'll be a lot harder because they'll be all vectory and stuff. That reminds me. If the blocks in 2.0 aren't the same look as the Experimental Viewer ones, should we have separate images for the EV ones?
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 17:39, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
We don't even have most of the images for the EV lol. Except the random block.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:43, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
I can still get to the EV, though, so I could get them.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 17:54, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
So can I, but I don't think we need images. Aren't the blocks just about the same?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 18:00, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Somewhat, but aren't we an encyclopaedia on all things Scratch? Shouldn't they be included?
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 18:02, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
It's tons of files! D:<

What kind of face is ;_;.... is that like a person crying or is it like a spider? Even my gf doesnt know D:
Dazman (talk | contribs) 03:42, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
I think it's a crying one :S Anyway I'm looking forward to the categorization and templates :3
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 05:21, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Templates, my favorite. :D
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:10, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

What does :S mean -_-
Dazman (talk | contribs) 06:29, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:42, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
It means "confused" xD

Yeah, I tried to get it to look like a confused face. XD

Dazman (talk | contribs) 07:32, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
As a matter of fact, I'm about to turn 13. You understood what I meant though I assume.
What's Trololol?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 12:18, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Well I assume you know what an internet troll is? If not, then here. "Trololol" is a variation on "lololol" and is what one might say if they had just trolled someone and found it funny. I think it was made famous by this video. Wow, the things the internet gave us 。◕ ‿ ◕。 Also this has gone off topic... xP

If only I were able to add all of the info from the 2.0 prealpha... :CCC
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 16:47, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
I can't wait for the release. I too can't find much to edit except for a few minor changes and the one article that I found wasn't created. Anyway, I'll help with anything needed for this wiki. Just tell me what I should do and I will.

A JavaScript bot

I know JavaScript, and me and veggie both think a bot to clear the sandbox every month would be nice. The only thing is, how does it log in and do its stuff?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 05:40, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Gotta use a bot API
Dazman (talk | contribs) 05:56, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Also I recommend PHP.
Dazman (talk | contribs) 05:56, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Dazman (talk | contribs) 05:57, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, I've figured out like how to get it to do it every month, in JS, but I don't know PHP. Yet.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:56, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Maybe I can help. I know PHP and Javascript. Just explain more of what it does. :)
ProgrammingFreak (talk | contribs) 20:34, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I looked at Wikipedia's bot, and I since it's open source I think I'll give it to someone like PF to perfect to our wiki. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 20:36, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Whoops, doesn't seem to be open source. D:
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 20:46, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh no. :O
ProgrammingFreak (talk | contribs) 20:57, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
I dunno if I'm helping because everyone seems quite clever in this lol, but would this be of any use to anybody?
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 21:29, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks WeirdF. :D That's open source it seems, and so we could fix it for our uses. :)
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 04:59, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Does anyone here know Perl though??
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 05:19, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
No, but I can often figure out a language somewhat by looking at it and Googling what I don't know. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 05:21, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

I might try making one in Java, and Sci unless your a professional programmer, you cant simply look at a language and understand what it does. I doubt you even know what this does:

import static java.lang.System.out;
import java.util.InputMismatchException;
import java.util.Scanner;
	class IO {
		public static void main(String[] args) {
			Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in);
			int num = 0;
			try {
				num = scanner.nextInt();
			} catch (InputMismatchException e) {
				out.println("Invalid Input");

Dazman (talk | contribs) 09:14, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Whatever, I'm not that good. But something like changing the arguments is usually pretty easy. :P
Thanks for the idea for the new SDS BTW. XD
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:23, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Just updated my code to handle errors better
Dazman (talk | contribs) 09:27, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Is that a code for a bot?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:34, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
No way. Even just logging in is like twice as long as this. This program here would be the equal to:

When Flag Pressed
Ask () and Wait
If Answer is a number {
say (answer)
Dazman (talk | contribs) 09:37, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Oh. Now that I know what it is, I can see how it works better. ;)
The bot WeirdF linked to uses external files which I don't have access to. :/
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:42, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Wow, good job WeirdF! :D I don't know much of Perl, but I agree with Sci, there's always time to learn. Oh, Daz, the code you put wasn't really a fair test. :P Its lots of importing and the beginning blah. :P
ProgrammingFreak (talk | contribs) 18:06, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
@ProgrammingFreak if you know java, then you would realize that you have to import ANYTHING thats not native. Getting user input does not come ready to use when you export the program because that would take up more space. You have to tell it to import java's scanner which collects user input because what if your program doesnt get user input. You dont want to waste ram and memory on something you dont use. Not trying to start an argument really, but I'm just saying this is a very fair test of if someone can understand a language.
Dazman (talk | contribs) 05:17, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
Daz, I'll tell you that it's not that I can look at something and understand what it does; if I know what it does I can sometimes understand parts of how it does it. Do you know Squeak? Tell me what this does:
hello: t1
   | t2 |
   t2 _ 'Hello, ' , t1.
   ^ t2

Scimonster (talk | contribs) 06:40, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Squeak :D Never tried that. Im just gonna take a guess at what it does. t1 and t2 are variables. t1 is hello and t2 is equal to 'Hello, ' which is concatenated with the t1 variable. I dont know what else you would do with the variable so I think after that your returning t2. I dont know if it prints it to the console or whatever squeak has :/. So lets see

hello: t1 //Variable Assignment, t1 stores hello
   | t2 | //Variable Deceleration I dont know why it has the | |
   t2 _ 'Hello, ' , t1. //Variable Assignment. t2 becomes the concatenation of t1 and t2
   ^ t2 //t2 is returned

Dazman (talk | contribs) 07:50, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

This Is what I imagine a java equivalent would be:

class MyClass {
	public static void main(String[] args) {
		String t1 = hello;
		String t2;
		t2 = ("Hello, " + t1);
		return t2;

Dazman (talk | contribs) 07:55, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Close. hello: t1 is the method selector. The method (function) is called "hello:" and t1 is the argument passed, in this case it would be a name. Temporary variables get declared with pipes around them. :P t2 _ 'Hello, ' , t1 means that t2 becomes the concatenation of 'Hello ' and t1. Then t2 is returned. In a reporter that would be what it reports. :P
But we've gotten really off-topic here. xP
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:09, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
Aren't we getting off-topic? :P
ProgrammingFreak (talk | contribs) 22:14, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Different bullets for different ranks.

Quote Icon.png Quote:

Author: Is it possible to make the bullets different depending on the line's rank in the hierarchy? Using the same bullet makes the list confusing.
Text:  Cygene
Source: User talk:Scimonster#world.jpg, and formatting questions

I like this idea. :D
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:30, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

So you mean rather than this:

  • Example
    • Example
      • Example
You'd have something like more like Microsoft Word, where each line can have a different style of bullet? Personally I don't think it's necessary, and the current system seems very clear to me.
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 08:11, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
More like normal HTML. Open up Notepad and paste the following code in, then save as a .html file:
<li>Item 1</li>
<li>Item 2
<ul> <li>Item 2.1</li>
<li>Item 2.2
<ul> <li>Item 2.2.1</li>
<li>Item 2.2.2</li>
<li>Item 3</li>
See how it turns out?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:18, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
That works, as an html but when you try it in scratch wiki, it looks like the normal bullets. What's interesting is that on wikispaces (the domain that hosts my website), when you do the normal way of bullets, the bullets are different for different ranks, so it's possible, I just think the engine Scratch uses doesn't support it. It just uses the same bullets over and over.
Cygene (talk | contribs) 10:51, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Exunctly. We want it changed, right? I do at least. ;)
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:21, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
I think the current system is very good already :S
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:29, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

What are we gonna do when the wiki hits 500 articles?

Any ideas?

Is there such a thing as a spam wiki article?

I was reading the Spam article today, and I was wondering, "Is there such a thing as a spam wiki article?"

Spam as in "spamspamspammynomnom" all over an article? It's never happened ^^

Yeah, as long as you don't overload it with your own examples, and as long as your example is a good, working one. :)

Copy the text you want to archive into User talk:Coinman/Archive 1 (external link intentional). Add {{archive header}} at the top. Delete the text from User talk:Coinman, and add a link to the archive.

Are we allowed to make profiles of Scratchers?

Are we allowed to make profiles of Scratchers? Someone might come to the wiki looking for information on a Scratcher for a Scratch history project, but there is nothing here. I am suggesting that, if this is okay, a few contributors get together with the said Scratcher and write biographies.

SJRCS_011 (talk | contribs) 18:25, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

It has to so with the fact that the wiki changed underscores to spaces. JSO should have built in an undoing of that...

Request: Scratchsig border

Can we NOT have a border around the scratchsigs? It ruins some.
Hardmath123 (talk | contribs) 11:46, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

In what way? :S
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:59, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Well I think it's because Hardmath's is circular. But to be honest, their use is more practical than for aesthetic reasons, so it doesn't really matter.

We really should, so I'm going to start working on it. If anyone wants to help feel free.
SJRCS_011 (talk | contribs)22:15, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Actually, I'm just going to have it redirect to the Collab Camp page.
SJRCS_011 (talk | contribs)22:15, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
The Collab Camp article is about Collab Camp 2011, if you hadn't noticed ^^
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:36, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
I did, which is why I created a redirect. Some other article had linked to Collab Camp 2011, and several more might, so I might as well have created the redirect instead of editing every article that contained that link.
SJRCS_011 (talk | contribs)19:53, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

We only have ten articles left until 500!

Or at least that's what the main page says. I wonder who will get it.

No wiki pages for different groups on wiki

Today, while looking at the User groups rights page, I noticed that there is no wiki page for users, bots, autoconfirmed users, bureaucrats, or admins. I was wondering if this was intentional or not. If not, I would like some help in creating these.
SJRCS_011 (talk | contribs)00:39, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I know.
I'd say you can make them if you want; I wouldn't mind. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 04:26, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
We don't really need those pages though, do we :S It doesn't really matter if you create them though.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 07:37, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I know it's not really necessary. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:21, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
