About redirects
I know I've asked this a zillion times already, but I want to make sure (have you changed your mind? :P)... are we still sticking with redirects? They don't work because of the current search engine...
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 04:20, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well, it doesn't hurt to have redirects, right? :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 04:52, 14 February 2011 (UTC)- As an editor I find them quite useful. Having been on the wiki for around eight months (and one week), I know a lot of the redirects off by heart, meaning I can just type them into the address bar to quickly get to certain articles.
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 20:09, 14 February 2011 (UTC)- Oh, right... I suppose they do help. :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:59, 15 February 2011 (UTC) - But most people (including me Dx) don't have them learned by heart... :P Anyway, I'll keep making them then - and it doesn't hurt. :D
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 01:01, 15 February 2011 (UTC)- I don't remember them all either - I just type in a guess :P

If you have a good term for something and it isn't already a redirect, I'd say to make the new redirect.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 16:57, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- +1 :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 04:55, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
Should I make redirects with just a capital change? Some people (like me) don't always remember to capitalize stuff.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:39, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
What does it mean to "purge" an article?
I clicked that once and it didn't do anything, at least not that I could see.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:23, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Never mind. I found it on the FAQ.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:54, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Now how do I remove this from the list of stuff?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:24, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- You don't - we keep all of our discussions for reference and such. We archive old messages whenever there are too many displayed though.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 10:07, 20 February 2011 (UTC)- Yeah, now that it's solved I thought maybe it should be archived.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 10:11, 20 February 2011 (UTC)- We don't archive messages unless the Community Portal gets too long - and it doesn't look like it'll happen for quite a while xD
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 10:12, 20 February 2011 (UTC)- When will that happen?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 19:33, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

- Yeah, now that it's solved I thought maybe it should be archived.
It happens when there's about 12-17 different topics on the community portal, and then the whole page gets added to an archive. Look at the top of this page for links to the archives...

Images aren't updating!
I tried blurring the names on , but it wouldn't update until another was posted. It is staying the original. WeirdF had that problem when trying to update the image for this article. Is this a glitch? Do we need to contact the Scratch Team?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 20:33, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- This has been an issue for ages... We asked JSO to fix it ages ago, and he fixed some of it... But yeah, maybe we should contact JSO, he never ever comes on the wiki so I'll go and speak to him on one of his projects...
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 09:41, 20 February 2011 (UTC)- I think JSO is a 'behind-the-scenes' person :P
- Anyway - not too long ago JSO mentioned that names in files don't have to be blurred - so don't worry scimonster :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 10:09, 20 February 2011 (UTC)- But it's still useful to be able to update images.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 10:13, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- But it's still useful to be able to update images.
- Hey! I do read the wiki >:[ So first of all, blurring names is useless and should be avoided. In order to update the images try Shift+Refresh and/or Purge Article. I think that should work. If not there's nothing much I can do about it.
JSO (talk | contribs) 22:13, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
We seem to have gone off-topic. Can the image upload glitch be fixed?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:28, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- I tried to upload a new version of the (list) workaround, as I realized the old one didn't work. But it didn't change!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:57, 24 February 2011 (UTC)- Never mind about that, I wasn't looking closely.
- It seems to be fixed now.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 12:39, 2 March 2011 (UTC)- Oh, I just needed to update the cache.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 15:09, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Is there a way where I don't have to log into Wiki when already logged into main site?
Well, the headline is as stated, so is there? Do I have to change my settings in Wiki so I don't have to log into Wiki again if I'm already logged into main site? If there isn't, I think it would be more convenient. Correct if I am wrong; I act like a noob,:D
Kingofdallamas (talk | contribs) 04:47, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think so.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 04:51, 21 February 2011 (UTC)- Well, then I think we should have this setting advantage. It'll be convenient...for me at lest. :)
Kingofdallamas (talk | contribs) 04:53, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well, then I think we should have this setting advantage. It'll be convenient...for me at lest. :)
- I don't think it's possible; our accounts on the Scratch Wiki aren't the same as our Scratch Website ones.
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:07, 21 February 2011 (UTC)- Alrighty then. It was just a thought.
Kingofdallamas (talk | contribs) 04:26, 22 February 2011 (UTC)- It's something we were thinking about when making this wiki and Scratch Resources, but it made things needlessly complicated. So we choose the easy way; keep being logged in or on (or the 'session' in nerd terms) separate for every site using the Scratch login.

Windows Meida Player VRS: Scratch Wiki
That's right, they are fighting on my computer. Whenever I try the shortcut to preview (Alt + Shift + P), it opens WMP!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:54, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's because WMP 10 and above have that built in shortcut. I don't thing that there's a way to turn it off :/

400 articles!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D :D :D
Now we need to hit 500 articles - that would be sooooo cool :D
Maybe when more Scratch 2.0 stuff comes out we might have a chance ;)
Do you think we'll ever hit 500 articles though?
(BTW, is that a record for length of a day's work in Recent Changes?)
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 04:40, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- By the type Scratch 3 is released there will be 500 :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:48, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
This needs another exclamation point. Now there are 4! ;)
- And you thought 300 was cool.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:58, 28 February 2011 (UTC)- I used to think 100 was a huge achievement xD
- Scratch Wiki pwnz :3
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:18, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Bots
What are they? On the user list it says there aren't any on this wiki, on the recent changes in gives an option to "hide bot edits." What are they? Auto editors? :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:26, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- Bots are like programmed editors, they carry out repetitive or boring edits that would take ages to do for a human being. See this page on Wikipedia for information.

New Wiki forums?
What if there were a separate forums just for wiki editors? That way we could talk and discuss stuff instead of using the community portal.
OldWheezerGeezer (talk | contribs) 01:06, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
- What's wrong with the community portal? :P But nah, I always like using forums to discuss; it's easier :P And maybe it would attract new editors :D
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 04:35, 24 February 2011 (UTC) - When we moved to this wiki, I asked if we would have forums here too - Lucario said no. He didn't explain why, though...
- I think the Community Portal works fine - we don't need such fancy stuff for simple discussion :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 04:41, 24 February 2011 (UTC) - I don't see any need for a wiki forums, though I sometimes prefer them.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:21, 24 February 2011 (UTC)- The community portal, and, ofcourse, all Talk pages are in fact forums but better suited for this wiki :)
JSO (talk | contribs) 22:23, 24 February 2011 (UTC)- Agreed.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 23:10, 24 February 2011 (UTC) - I never thought about it that way - oops o_O
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:44, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Default values
I was wondering, on the block pages, should we include the default values of the blocks?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 10:38, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- It seems a bit necessary (why would anyone care? :P), but I don't see a reason why not to... :P *waits for more replies*
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 11:20, 28 February 2011 (UTC)- You mean UNnecessary? :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:51, 28 February 2011 (UTC)- Oops, LOL xD
Chrischb (talk | contribs) 00:10, 1 March 2011 (UTC) - Lol xD
- But as for the question - there's no rule about putting default values in or not, but I always leave them out :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 00:15, 1 March 2011 (UTC)- I didn't mean in the pictures, in the actual page, should it be mentioned?
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:47, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't mean in the pictures, in the actual page, should it be mentioned?
- Oops, LOL xD
- You mean UNnecessary? :P
- Definitely! I don't think it's useless information. It could be useful in some rare circumstances.
Lucario621 (talk | contribs) 02:33, 2 March 2011 (UTC)- OK, I'll start that later!
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:49, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

One more question: Should it be a new header, or just a paragraph? Check my sandbox for more info.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 11:18, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- I will do paragraph until decided otherwise.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:25, 2 March 2011 (UTC) - Eh... without a header it looks out-of-place, but with one it looks a bit big... Uh...
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 04:40, 3 March 2011 (UTC)- Looks fine to me. :/
Operation:Default is done, no thanks to you guys. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 08:17, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- You know what, it does look kind of out of place. Here's my suggestion: edit Template:Block to have a default value section! What do you think?
- EDIT: Check my sandbox for more info.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 13:13, 3 March 2011 (UTC)- You guys don't care, I'll do it my way. Editing Template:Block.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 17:33, 5 March 2011 (UTC)- Done! Now, if anyone wants to disagree, I'll get another 100 or so edits out of redoing it. :P
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 09:17, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Kaj
I know we're not supposed to make pages on individual users, but Kaj is a part of Scratch's history, and hardly anyone actually knows the truth about him, so do you think being a bit flexible about the no-user rule just this once would be okay?
WeirdF (talk | contribs) 19:54, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- I think so. Many users may be curious about everything they hear about Kaj.
OldWheezerGeezer (talk | contribs) 21:40, 28 February 2011 (UTC)- Kaj has become more than a user... I agree that we should make a Kaj page.
Veggieman001 (talk | contribs) 00:00, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

I guess. BTW, Lightnin mentioned somewhere that it was a her.
Scimonster (talk | contribs) 07:47, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Finished the article! However I didn't see that thing about Kaj being a her... I'll change all the instances of the word 'him' and I've asked lightning to confirm the identity...

Category Help
On the Table of Contents we have the tutorial "Guide to Remixing" twice. One under other and one under scratch program. I personally think that It should be under website, but what do you guys think?
Dazman (talk | contribs) 05:57, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Dazman, good to see you again :D
- Uh... I don't think there's anything wrong with putting an article under two different parts - after all, we sometimes give multiple categories to articles :P
Jonathanpb (talk | contribs) 06:12, 2 March 2011 (UTC)- I fixed the link. ;)
