TinyPic is closing down
I'm not sure how many pages this messes up but you should all know that TinyPic is closing down :(
ajsya Profile | Talk | Contribs 19:52, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- Dang, could you name some examples of pages that use TinyPic?
1a3c5e7g9i(Talk|Contributions) 23:49, 23 July 2019 (UTC)- In case you don't know: Scratch Wiki has its own image hosting (Wiki server) and does not use TinyPic(or cubeupload or anything else) at all.
Apple502j Talk/Activities 2,243edit 03:11, 24 July 2019 (UTC)- @1a3c5e7g9i I forget the names right now, but theres one about image hosting I know for sure.
- @Apple502j I know, but there are informational pages that will be incorrect.
ajsya Profile | Talk | Contribs 14:10, 26 July 2019 (UTC)- It looks like Jammum updated Image Hosting: see Special:Redirect/revision/231829.
bigpuppy talk ▪︎ contribs 14:58, 29 July 2019 (UTC)- Oh my god I know (but I use cubeupload). So what should we do?
Congyingzhou (talk | contribs) 01:25, 31 August 2019 (UTC)- Simply put, update the pages that mention Tinypic to say that it's closing down (even though we should've already done that).

AF Link Proposal
For April Fools pages, could we convert regular links in the page to the April Fools one instead, if possible?
But we shouldn't go on a massive editing spree for this - only change the links if we stumble upon them or add new ones.
TenType (talk | contribs) 16:17, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- I think that depends on the person that creates the page, but I think that April Fools pages aren't that huge of a deal to change every link, even if stumbled upon. Also, most pages don't have an alternate April Fools page to begin with.
Jedibrine Talk Contribs Scratch 05:48, 31 July 2019 (UTC)- Support.
smileycreations15 (talk | contribs) 12:04, 31 July 2019 (UTC)- @Jedibrine: Sorry, by "stumbling upon", I meant when we add/modify the contents of an AF page. I don't want too many edits of just converting links.
- Also, this will make AF pages more lively and humorous in a way. I myself have been disappointed in the past clicking on a link on an AF page, but found out that it led to a regular article.
- And even if there isn't an alternate AF page, so what? We could just add the regular link for now, and then when it gets created, we could change it.
TenType (talk | contribs) 16:03, 31 July 2019 (UTC)- I thought that on April Fools Day, then if you clicked a link, it would lead to the April Fools version of that page if there is one...
EIephant_Lover Talk Contributions Subpages 22:28, 31 July 2019 (UTC)- No no, that's not what I meant. What I meant was when you click on a link that's on an AF page, it leads you to the regular page, and my proposal is that we should change those links (once again on AF pages) to lead to the AF version of the link, if possible. Even if this could be rendered useless on April 1st, it still would be more humorous for users who browse AF pages.
TenType (talk | contribs) 00:48, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

I don't think this is a good idea. What benefit will this bring? This change would mean that on AF Day, every mainspace page would be linking to the AF subpage instead of linking to other real pages. Then any normal user would suddenly be taken to some cryptic page titled "Scratch Wiki:April Fools/Ignatious Q. Higgenbotham" and not know what they were looking at. Plus, the {{April Fools}} template (which is on every mainspace page with an AF version) shows a header saying "this is a joke, scroll to the bottom for the real article"; the {{AF}} template (which is on the AF versions of mainspace pages) does not. Linking to AF versions from mainspace would remove the ability for educators, New Scratchers, and other members of our audience to get some serious help that they just happened to need on AF Day.
That's my two cents.
BTW, @TenType, there's a shortcut for {{th}} for 1, it's {{st}}. There are also {{nd}} and {{rd}} for convenience.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 04:17, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- I don't think everyone knows what I'm saying. Only on AF pages should we link to other AF pages; why would we link AF pages from mainspace?
TenType (talk | contribs) 16:04, 1 August 2019 (UTC)- Dude. AF pages get transcluded into mainspace on AF Day. The links remain unchanged upon transclusion.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 16:09, 1 August 2019 (UTC)- Welp, yes, but this would also benefit users who browse AF pages when it's not AF day.
TenType (talk | contribs) 17:51, 1 August 2019 (UTC)- I don't really know that many people that browse AF pages outside of AF day, and there are ways for people to access AF pages if they really need to. If people want to reach a page on AF day, all they will find are AF pages.
Jedibrine Talk Contribs Scratch 04:03, 2 August 2019 (UTC) - I've made a change to the {{April Fools}} template (the one that goes on mainspace) so that it shows a little icon in the top right that links to the AF version. That should make things easier for the minority that browses AF pages, which substitutes the only real benefit of this; therefore I shall consider this Done.

Split Help talk:Welcome/4
Done
Help talk:Welcome/4 is used by new Wikians to test out using talk pages. But, there is also a real discussion on the page named 'Blanking' (although before the actual discussion, there are a few talk page tests).
I suggest that all test discussions should be moved to its own talk page (that is a sub-page of the real talk page), which could be named something like 'Help talk:Welcome/4/Testing'.

God286 (talk | contribs) 06:31, 31 August 2019 (UTC)- I disagree - besides posting on talk pages, New Wikians should also learn how to get to them. If they have to additionally navigate to a subpage, they might be misimpressioned that they have to do that with all talk pages. At the most maybe indicate at the top of the page that real discussions should go in a subpage.

Wiki Wednesday - Participate!
Hi everyone!
Those who have been following Wiki Wednesday closely might have noticed that we introduced a new section in July, "Participate!". Our goals are to
- increase community engagement with the Wiki Wednesday event
- reduce (the relative amount of) spam on the topic
- show people that they can use the Wiki to answer many questions
- get more people interested in joining the Wiki by inspiring them with interesting questions/ topics that need coverage
In July's participate we asked people to ask questions, try to answer them with the Wiki or otherwise answer if they can. We got some interesting questions:
> Answered by wiki
- Where is the remix tree?
- What is the Wiki?
- What is Wiki Wednesday?
- Who invented Scratch?
> Answered by community
- Troubleshooting on MacBook
- Changing the profile picture on a tablet
- How many studios can someone create?
- How to make a thumbnail (that is not visible once the Green Flag was clicked) for a project
> Unanswered
- When are Scratch Updates launched?
- Branding Tips
- Project ideas
- Wall detection platformer tutorial
- Make a bullet follow a player
- Full game tutorials
- How to draw in Scratch
- What did the ST expect people to do with studios?
- How to get hacked blocks
As you see some of the unanswered questions could have been answered using the Wiki - oh well, they were burried beneath spam I guess...
This month's Participate! is to give us feedback on last month's participate and Wiki Wednesday in general. It would be great if the Wiki Community could participate :) On the Wiki Wednesday post: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/368257/ post your feedback! You can also make suggestions for future Participat! sections. Or say if you don't think Participate! is useful and try and develop another strategy. Thanks all!

Statistics - New Zealand
I think we need to write in this page that New Zealand is cut off massively, and can not really be seen. It's quite noticeable!
God286 (talk | contribs) 06:27, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- Actually, this is a common thing done in corporate - New Zealand frequently doesn't constitute a large statistic, and its presence extends the map a lot, so it is commonly deliberately left out of statistics maps. You can tell the ST to add it back, I guess, for all the good it'll do :P

October 2019 EW Election
Overview
On behalf of all the Scratch Wiki admins and EWs, I am happy to announce that the seventh Experienced Wikian elections will be held in this month of October, 2019.
You can find the most relevant information on the election page: Scratch Wiki:Elections/October 2019 and the nomination page. Visit this page to learn more about being an Experienced Wikian: Scratch Wiki:Experienced Wikians
Rationale
This election is for mostly the same reason as the February 2018 elections. I (kenny2scratch) have now started 11th grade, and the level of stress is really high - this is the year where the vast majority of learning goes on. I'm not withdrawing or retiring from the Wiki like jvvg has, but I will definitely have to be far less active.
Now, the EWs elected in June have done their job very well - but I'm sure they'd love some help. Also, in the last election there was an experience imbalance - the candidates joined the Wiki in 2015, 2017, and 2018; additionally, at the time other nominees couldn't become candidates because of lack of experience. After three months, we feel confident that nominees will have more experience.
Expectations/Hopes
EWs elected in this election should be able to dedicate a set amount of time each day to patrolling edits made that day. Though all edits from each day must be patrolled, the elects need not patrol them all by themselves. Instead, they should coordinate with myself and other admins and EWs to patrol the day's edits.
Elects should also:
- Know the account request process well (processing account requests is what the entire EW role was created for)
- Have a certain amount of activity per day outside of patrolling. Edits made in the course of patrolling are usually enough.
- Know how to gently/nicely/politely correct new users' behavior
- No: "Please remember to indent. You did not indent on User's talk page."
- Yes: "Hi, I just saw your message on User's talk page. Your comment was rather [positive adjective], but I just want to mention that when replying to other people's posts we usually..."
Conclusion
Nominations open at 12:00 AM UTC on October 5 (which is 8pm Scratch Time on October 4). Good luck, and may the best candidates win!
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 04:29, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- Another one? It feels like we just did the last! Nevertheless, I'll nominate myself when it's open.
MClovers (talk | contribs) 04:38, 1 October 2019 (UTC)- It is unprecedented, to have two elections in such a short time, but the rationale is valid.

Candidates: Start writing your speeches! Once you have written your speech and are happy with what it says, post it in a reply here. Remember that speeches must be no more than 108 words and not break any rules stated on the election page. If you like, you can post your speech multiple times - your last reply here that you mark as your official speech will be the speech displayed on the election page. You have until October 19 to write and post and/or revise your speech.
Everyone else: There's nothing for you to do right now - voting starts on October 19. Check back in a week!
(Edit: your speeches will only be displayed on the election page at the start of the voting period.)

Since I'm one of the most active users on the Wiki and moderate every edit that goes into Recent Changes, I believe I would be an excellent fit as an EW for patrolling, handling account requests, and maintaining the Wiki. Lastly, I consider myself to be a hard worker- meaning I would be great for repetitive tasks such as deleting unused/redirecting files. Vote TenType for EW!

I've been on the Scratch wiki for over 2 years now and I've enjoyed every second of it! I believe that the wiki is not just a place to get information but a whole community. Following this belief, I know how to manage online communities. I have a popular community known as 'ShopBux'. I won't get into what it actually is but the core of it is a thriving online community with over 300 pages and around 20 employees. I am a bit of a computer geek as well so I spend a lot of time on my laptop, meaning I am able to be on the wiki on command. Relating to this, my timezone is NZT so you can figure out when I'll be able to get on. I have the ability to correct users politely as I believe that new wikians may be put off if an EW came to them and attacked them. I can easily learn things so this will mean me learning every single nook and cranny of being an EW. Relating to this, I love learning new things so I will enjoy this position. My activity on this wiki will skyrocket as I understand the dedication required to be an EW. I will also try to reccomend the ideas of users to the other EWs and admins. Remember to #VoteAlpha if you want a say in how this online community is run!
MClovers (talk | contribs) 03:49, 16 October 2019 (UTC)- @MClovers, two problems with your speech:
- Your username is MClovers, not AlphaZetta. "#VoteAlpha" doesn't really make sense in this context.
- The word limit for speeches is 108 words. Your speech is 290 - over twice the limit.
- In any case, thank you all for your speeches - you now have until this Saturday to revise them. The last reply of yours here that you mark as your official speech will be used on the election page.

I have created many articles here and joined many discussions around the Wiki since two years ago. Also, my timezone is UTC+9; similar to Ken's, so I can help his jobs at the almost same time. Make the Wiki nice like an apple, by Voting Apple.

- <Latest Speech>Hi, I'm @MClovers! Thanks for choosing me! I've been on the Scratch wiki for over 2 years now! The wiki is not just a wiki but a whole community. I can manage communities. I have a community known as 'ShopBux'. It's an online community with an active following. I can get on the wiki on command. I correct users politely. I learn quickly so I can get to know the position. I love learning new things so I will enjoy this position. I understand the dedication required to be an EW. I will recommend the ideas of users to wiki staff. #VoteMCL if you want a voice!

In Scratch_Books the link for the book Coding for Beginners Using Scratch is broken. It apears that the company took down the book's page for a new book release which is updated for 3.0 I can never get the web archives to work for me so I thought I would tell all of you to decide what to do.

In the Image Hosting page it seems that Xomf is still under the 'Pending review' section. According to this forum post by Paddle2See, they've tried to add Xomf but it didn't work. I think that this would make the wiki page out of date. Should I change it?

Show Preview Loading
Is it just me, or is "Show preview" loading slower and slower as time progresses? At first, since I was using a phone to edit, I thought it was just the side effect of editing on mobile. However, I tried using "Show preview" on my two other laptops and the same happened- I clicked "Show preview", then the gray loading circle would pop up. It takes a VERY long time to load and sometimes won't even load at all. If you click on it again, the circle would disappear and the preview would still not be shown. "Save changes" and "Show changes" works just fine. Is anyone else experiencing this and if someone else is, then could this be fixed?
At this very moment, I clicked "Show preview" and it is still loading... and loading...

- On desktop, works normally for me... loaded as instantly as any other submit function.

TenType (talk | contribs) 01:08, 21 October 2019 (UTC)- "what in the name of X" or "what in X's name" just means something along the lines of "what on earth" - it's a way of emphasizing "what". "Salamander Jimmy" is something Turkey3 once said on the CP.

Maybe this button could be moved somewhere?
TenType (talk | contribs) 02:57, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- First off, does it actually bother anyone that much? I don't notice it at all - it's a white image on a light background.
- Second, if you were to look at the full-sized image you would see that the icon actually says "APRIL FOOOOOOOOOOOOOLS DAYYY" rather than what you think.
- Third, I partially meant that icon as a way of introducing the idea of April Fools' pages to people who actually notice it - a fun thing to find out, like "hey the Wiki does April Fools too".
- Fourth, the other purpose of the icon is its main one - a convenient link to the April Fools' version of the page. It's much harder to type "Scratch Wiki:April Fools/Scratch Wiki Home" into the address bar than it is to click "Scratch Wiki Home" then the rage icon.
- I like it where it is; I guess I'm not strongly opposed to moving it somewhere else on the main page, but it serves its purpose best in its current state.
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 01:46, 13 November 2019 (UTC)- It just seems odd to have a button right smack in the title bar, just for one day of the year. Perhaps it could be shown through March and April, and after that it's gone until next year? It just feels kindof unprofessional.

Suggestion for a new Scratch block: StringBuilder
Done
Hello fellow Scratch Wiki users,
I’ve been using Scratch over the past couple of years and I noticed something quite frustrating: Text. It is really hard to portray graphical text in scratch that can easily be modified(ex. a sprite that dynamically changes it’s text based on the user input.)
Right now, there are only a few, limited choices with drawbacks:
1) Using the say block
Using the say block will trigger the particular sprite to mention user-specified text(ex. Hello!). This method is simple, and easily able to dynamically change, but it comes with a few drawbacks. It is really hard in itself to customize the text, in ways like changing the size, color, and font. Furthermore, the text will always appear in a text bubble above the existing sprite, hindering it’s usability in many programs.
2) Preparing code to make dynamic text
In addition, people using scratch can develop their own typography to display dynamically. The procedure can be done by making the 26 costumes in an “Alphabet” sprite either by hand or using the existing typography. After the process, a “cloning” function can be made to generate the desired text. This is the other alternative to using speech bubbles, and it appears in various other types of games. Unfortunately, it is really hard customizing features like size and font, because every other costume will be needed to be changed into the desired style. Moreover, getting the word function to actually work can also be a problem.
A hybrid of some sorts should be made, to further enhance the efficiency of the Scratch language we have come to know and love!
StringBuilder!
My proposed idea, StringBuilder, can be a hybrid between the two options, having the ease of dynamically changing and generating the text itself with having it being it’s own sprite!
To elaborate, StringBuilder should be a special type of sprite put into the “Add Sprite” button, so that users can get it themselves. It should also come with it’s own blocks and settings.
when green flag clicked set StringBuilder text to [Hello World] set StringBuilder height = [100] set StringBuilder font to [Arial v] set StringBuilder language to [English v] set StringBuilder color to Red: [0] Green: [0] Blue: [0] add[hello] to [StringBuilder 1 v] starting at index (1) remove String at index (1) for [StringBuilder 1 v] wrap text when <>
I know these blocks aren’t perfect, so I am open to new suggestions!

I recently reverted 2 edits that a New Wikian made. They were presumably test edits, but I think they could be mistaken for vandalising. Privacy Policy Article
Done
We should probably delete this article. It's just a copy of the Scratch Privacy Policy and doesn't add anything to it. Furthermore, the article is outdated and is actually (presumably) the old Scratch Privacy Policy.
I don't want to delete an article without asking some more experienced people first, and I don't know if I even have the permission to delete articles. What do you guys think?
Groko13 (talk | contribs) 00:34, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
- I think it should be deleted. We could make an FAQ page, saying "What is Scratch's privacy policy?", give a short answer, and link to the full thing.
EIephant_Lover Talk Contributions Subpages 01:28, 14 November 2019 (UTC)- This would be better in Talk:Privacy Policy, but okay.

Groko13 (talk | contribs) 03:58, 14 November 2019 (UTC)- I think that EIephant_Lover's idea is good, but instead of deleting the page, we could just replace the current article with a short synopsis of the policy and a link, along with a disclaimer that "this is not a substitute for the actual Privacy Policy."
Groko13 (talk | contribs) 21:16, 14 November 2019 (UTC)- Our article is 5th in rank in Google search results for "scratch privacy policy" (at least in my region), so I think if any redirecting happens it should be to the current title.
- The ideal solution is to add our own content regarding the privacy policy. Could we explain each clause of the policy rather than (or in addition to) directly quoting it? Maybe give examples, or make the meaning clearer? I'm loath to delete an article that should have good use but just doesn't at the moment.
- Side note: if you already posted on its talk page, and nobody responded, I think it's fair to get more attention on the issue by bringing it up here. You (Groko13) did the right thing here.
- If there's no content that can be added, I still think it should stay - I don't actually have a problem with it being a straight-up copy of the Scratch policy - but I agree with Groko13 in adding a disclaimer that "this is not the actual Scratch privacy policy", and I would furthermore recommend adding another disclaimer that "this is not the Wiki privacy policy, that can be found here".
- Sound good?

To clarify, I linked to the German privacy policy because that is privacy policy for all wikis. It's legally dangerous to translate the privacy policy (as discussed in another topic somewhere, I think) so all wikis just link to it directly. (And no, it's not the privacy policy for Martin's company! That's in another place entirely - it's only that he uses his company address as the "responsible person" address for the Wikis.)

Questions about Protection
Done
What exactly does it mean when you protect a page? I know that you use the {{Protect}} template and then (if fitting), the page is "locked" (protected). My question is who can edit it after that? Does it mean that it's only editable by the page creator (owner, if on a userspace) and EW+? Or nobody can edit it? Thanks.
54329 (talk | contribs) 05:17, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- Marking a page with {{protect}} tells admins that the page needs to be protected. To protect a page means to "lock" a page from being edited/moved by normal users based of of their rank. There are 4 levels of protection; one of them includes, EWplus, which only lets EWs, admins, or bureaucrats edit/move the page. Another includes "Autoconfirmed", which only lets an autoconfirmed user or any rank higher than it can edit/move the page, etc. (there are no exceptions to the creator) You can look at Help:Protected pages for more info.

Template Preview
In the Visual Editor (or maybe in the source editor as well) Wikipedia is able to preview the templates we selected and a preview of the docs of the templates. I constantly get the templates' names wrong (and its syntax) which messes up the looks of the template. I always then have to look for the correct template which takes a lot of time. Having this plugin would help me get the correct template faster, and more efficiently.
12944qwerty Talk Contribs Scratch 23:06, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
- There's a simpler solution: Preview the page before saving it! That'll show you what the template use will look like, as well as what the rest of the page will look like.
- If you know the template name, go to the template documentation to learn the syntax. If you don't remember the name, go to Category:Templates and look for it there. If you keep forgetting template names, start learning them.
- (So that I'm not just providing workarounds: anything to do with Visual Editor is sort of out of our technical capabilities at the moment, though I'm trying to work on that - thanks for the suggestion, but I'm afraid it's somewhat impossible for now.)

Qucchia (talk | contribs) 17:57, 23 November 2019 (UTC)

Jakel181 (talk | contribs) 22:49, 23 November 2019 (UTC)- @jakel181: Why did you link to the same page twice? The more organized list is Category:Scratch Wiki
- It's not Scratch's fault if a project can't save, so I don't think Bugs is appropriate. See my topic on its talk page - if made FAQ, then it goes in the FAQ category.

TenType (talk | contribs) 00:09, 25 November 2019 (UTC)- To give a potentially more useful explanation, your (specific) main user JS file is User:Mrbumppo/common.js, which is a JS file that will run on every Wiki page you visit. (You can create other JS files, but they won't be run unless you load them from your common.js the way I do.) They're an alternative to userscripts, and can also be more powerful because they have access to the MediaWiki JS API.

Why is this page protected?
Done
Why is User:Swampert11 protected to only allow Wikians to edit it? Since it is a userpage, it is automatically protected, right? This seems oddly unnecessary.
54329 (talk | contribs) 19:12, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- That was probably protected before AbuseFilter was enabled and configured. 20:32, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, makes sense.
54329 (talk | contribs) 01:54, 10 December 2019 (UTC)- To give more detail, it was actually originally protected at the "autoconfirmed" level by author request in 2014. This level was mostly symbolic - "hey, even though you can edit this, think hard about it before you do" - because all users here are autoconfirmed by virtue of having been confirmed by ConfirmAccounts.
- Later, at some point in 2018, we added the Wikian protection level. Soon after, we also added AbuseFilter, and added (in March 2018) a filter that prevented New Wikians from editing others' userpages.
- Even later, in July 2018, I came across that userpage, and changed its protection level from autoconfirmed to Wikian. At the time, I had forgotten about AbuseFilter, and I thought I was helping out by raising the protection level to something actually useful for them; in retrospect it now serves the same purpose as the autoconfirmed protection did before: a warning against editing, even if able.

then its probably transcluded from a template in which check template documentation to confirm and usually putting the parametercat=no
in the template will remove the auto categorization.

- Yes, but there is an FAQ template. You can remove it from the category by adding "|cat=no" to the end of the template (the one that says faq and is surrounded by these: {{}} ) as another parameter. Some templates automatically put pages into a category, but you can disable that for a page by adding cat=no.

Horizontal rules?
Done
On the Privacy Policy article, there is a horizontal rule that separates the summarized Privacy Policy from the rest of the article. However, placing a blank line before the horizontal rule is apparently bad style. To me, it looks weird without the extra space. I couldn't find any rules on when to use horizontal rules on the Scratch Wiki. How/when should they be used in an article (if ever)? Is this an exception to the style guide? Should the horizontal rule be replaced by a heading? Thanks!

icmy123 (talk | contribs) 12:38, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Why no plural redirects?
Many of the pages on the wiki already have plural redirects, and they make it a lot more convenient for users to navigate the wiki. In the search, a user who entered a different form of a word from the one with a page might not find it in the results.
CrazyBoy826 | Talk | 8,242 edits | Scratch 04:19, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- They are really just too small of a difference to really care about. Even when deleting a page, there are a list of default reasons for the summary and one includes plural/grammar redirects. For now, deliberately creating plural redirects are discouraged unless there is an instance when it is not easy to find the singular version.

Request to Allow Plural and Singular Redirects
Done Plural and singular grammar form redirects are not allowed on the Scratch Wiki for being redundant and unnecessary. However, this has led to many navigation problems, and possibly even users not finding content that exists.
For example, let's say that a page named "Block" existed, but had no redirect from "Blocks". When a user searches "blocks", the top search results will be other articles containing the word "blocks". This happens because the search does not recognize "blocks" being a variant of "block". The page Block will not show up, because its title Block does not match the search term Blocks.
This has become an issue even for me navigating the Wiki, as I sometimes need to enter the search term in singular and plural form. Can sommeone please allow these redirects?
CrazyBoy826 | Talk | 8,242 edits | Scratch 02:16, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
- No.
- The real problem is that we're inconsistent about plurals in titles. Ideally, all articles should be singular only, because then one can safely search for the singular at all times. However, we currently have a mix of singular (e.g. Scratcher) and plural (e.g. Blocks). This is the real problem that needs solving.
- Now, a mass move of plural titles to singular would be a large shift... so if we do end up moving all plural titles to singular then I'd be happy to have those moves leave behind redirects, at least while Google search results are still catching up with the moves. However, new plural redirects are still not OK.
- But also, for your own navigation, just enter the singular and then look through autocomplete, rather than actually submitting the singular as a search term. Typing "Wug" will bring up the autocomplete result "Wugs".
kenny2scratch Talk Contribs Directory 07:58, 23 January 2020 (UTC)- So can we just move all plural pages to singular and have a bot fix all the double redirets and links to redirects?
- This will also make it easier to make links, as there is a handy tool for making links to singular pages appear plural ([[Block]]s), but no tool to make plural links appear singular.
CrazyBoy826 | Talk | 8,242 edits | Scratch 17:54, 26 January 2020 (UTC)- Please don't change the topic, but rather start a new one.

Editcount and #expr interference
Known bug
I'm doing some experimentation with {{#expr}} involving {{Special:Editcount/Dominic305}}, however, Editcount inserts invalid punctuation into the expression, therefore causing it to give an error. Is there a way around this?
Dominic305 Talk Contribs (1,791) Scratch Directory 20:42, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
- Does anyone have an answer to this? (Sorry if i'm being too impatient)
Dominic305 Talk Contribs (1,791) Scratch Directory 02:19, 31 January 2020 (UTC)- Well, there is a magic word called
formatnum
(you can find it under Formatting in Help:Magic words) which adds/removes commas and other things. The {{Special:Editcount/USERNAME}} function outputs the result with commas, so you can try something like this:{{formatnum:{{Special:Editcount/Dominic305}}|R}}
to remove the commas that break the equation.

ajsya Profile | Talk | Contribs 03:46, 22 February 2020 (UTC)- Done - I changed http to https and also purged the icon cache (and then deliberately loaded the CP so that I would suffer the slow load instead of the next person). CP now has lock icon for me on Win10 Chrome 79.

New template
Done
Someone should make a “this page needs formatting revisions” template for pages with broken/glitched/improper formatting issues.

I don't know if this is new, but now profile pages use the old 1.4 logo favicon.

Dominic305 Talk Contribs (1,791) Scratch Directory 12:39, 26 February 2020 (UTC)- Wait, now it's fixed. I think it was Scratch Team's error. 😅
Scramaso (talk | contribs) 14:14, 26 February 2020 (UTC)- You were probably browsing using uploads.scratch.mit.edu instead of scratch.mit.edu, visit https://uploads.scratch.mit.edu/users/deletethisacount/ the reason for this is because its a page that users aren't meant to see, but Google's spider called Googlebot still adds it too their directory, so sometimes you accidently see those pages.

Mass move of all my usersubpages
At some point, I'm going to move my userpages to User:Dominic305/V2, and also move all the subpages. However, I don't know if it would be OK to move them all at the same time, because this on a larger scale would happen:
So could I do this, or do I slowly need to move them all individually?
Dominic305 Talk Contribs (1,791) Scratch Directory 17:12, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- That's fine, thanks for the heads up. I've patrolled all the unpatrolled pages you had. Just don't move them around too much.

Apple502j Talk/Activities 2,243edit 02:35, 3 March 2020 (UTC)== Profile Safety ==
question:How can I be sure my profile is safe? As we all know, online safty is SUPER important. So how can you be sure you are safe on scrath? Well, lets talk about profiles. SOOOO many things can go wrong in a profile. Your picture could be tracked, your username could be a clue to ANYTHING private or secret, or your description could be TO detailed. Sooo... how can we be sure it is safe? First, make sure when you make an account your username is not your address, any passwords or your name. Next, make sure your profile picture is not of you, your house, or anything innapropriate or mean. Make sure if it is copywright or owned by somebody else you GET PERMISSION. Now, when you do your description and what you are working on, no passwords, names, or bad words. If you dont like advertising or spam, mean comments or anything else like that, I suggest you turn off your comments. But do note comments can be nice and kind, and helpful! Lastly, anybody can follow you, so do not tell them to unfollow you or anything like that. I hope this helped!

Change Scratch Program Image on TOC
Could an Admin change the Scratch Program Image on the table of contents to an updated 3.0 Image?
Ravenclaw900 (talk | contribs) 16:43, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
