If you are an administrator or an Experienced Wikian, you can edit the Scratch News displayed on the wiki by editing Scratch Wiki Home/News. However, there is a certain process for adding news items to these pages.
Firstly, you must determine if the news item is notable enough to include. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Is the news item mentioned somewhere on the Front Page?
- Is the news item relevant to the majority of the Scratch community? (i.e., not just the forums)
If the answer to both of these questions is no, then it is not notable enough to be added to the news pages. If the answer to either of the questions is yes, then it is notable enough to be added to the news pages. If you are still not sure whether a news item is notable enough, you can ask on the Community Portal.
Next, you must create the news item's displayed message. Note that curator events are automatically added by a bot and should not be manually added.
If the news item is about an update, post it using this format:
;DATE {{-}} Scratch Update
:Scratch has been updated! DESCRIPTION [[topic:TOPIC ID|Click here to learn more.]]
If the news item is about a new Scratch Design Studio, post it using this format:
;DATE {{-}} New Scratch Design Studio {{-}} SDS TITLE
:The Scratch Team has released a new [[Scratch Design Studio]]! Its description states:
::''DESCRIPTION''
If the news item does not fit into one of the above categories, post it using this format:
;DATE {{-}} TITLE
:DESCRIPTION.
When you have typed up the news item's message, post it at the top of Scratch Wiki Home/News, and remove the last one from the list, keeping it at the 5 most recent news items.
