A duplicate topic (often abbreviated to dupe), is when a forum topic overlaps, is extremely similar, or is identical to an older post about the same topic. These mostly occur inside the Suggestions forum, although they can occur in some other forums as well.

Duplicate forum topics are usually closed by the Scratch Team, often accompanied by a post explaining they are closing it. This is to prevent the forums from getting cluttered, and it is also to keep the discussion of one topic in a single place.

If the duplicate is way more active than the original, the two topics can also be merged in order to combine the posts. However, this is not done too often.
